Obituary of Lillie R. Sheila Burke

Lillie R “Sheila” Burke was born on August 19, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the firstborn of seven children. She entered into eternal glory on Sunday, August 21st, 2016. Sheila, as she was known by family and friends, accepted Jesus Christ into her life at a young age. She attended Hallihan High School, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sheila continued her studies at Burlington County College and Rutgers University. Sheila also attended and graduated from Gordon Phillips Academy where she studied cosmetology. Sheila worked as a licensed professional hair designer for 30 years. In addition, Sheila held positions in construction sales and as a mortgage originator. Her many talents included being an excellent seamstress and cook. Sheila loved her eleven grandchildren, and often talked about them with great affection. Sheila was an active member in the community, devoting most of her free time volunteering to work with children for Frankford Group Ministries, whose mission is to: “…work with our neighbors and partners to empower the people of Frankford by building stronger families and a stronger community.” Sheila had a passion for political and social issues. She was a dutiful citizen, participating in voting drives and campaigns, including the last two presidential elections. Sheila leaves behind to mourn her passing, her mother, Daisy Boyer, her children: Ellery Davis (Deanna), Angel Burke and Anthony LaPorta-Burke, grandchildren, Norris Bates III, Brandon Bates, Brian Bates, Miranda Powell, Mariah Davis, Joseph Davis, Andrew Davis, Sheila V Brown, Sylvia B Brown, Anthony M Burke and Trajan A Burke. She was predeceased by her Daughter, Wendy Boyer-Powell (David). She also leaves to mourn brothers, Gregory Burke (Pat), Richard Boyer Jr., James (Stewart) Boyer (Martha), sisters, Lauren Patricia Boyer-Bonds and Ehrica Bauman (Charles). She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert D Boyer (Cindy), her stepfather, Richard W Boyer, niece, Brenda Boyer and nephew, Christian Bauman. Sheila also leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Respectfully submitted, The Family
