Flossie Harmon (nee Taylor) 72, an over 40-year resident of Willingboro NJ, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 1st with her family by her side at Kennedy Hospital. Flossie was born July 12, 1944 in Wilson, NC (along with her twin sister) as blessed gifts from God to the late James “Buddy” Taylor and Emma “Big Mom” Taylor.  She was one of seven children.  Flossie was preceded in death by her siblings Lossie Burnett (twin), Willie James Taylor, Gray Tart Taylor and survived by Winnie Mae Barnes, Daisy Edmundson and Lorraine Tyson. She was educated in the Wilson NC Public School System.  After completing her education, she met and married Douglas Washington, who preceded her in death, during the Vietnam War.  In the mid 1960’s she met and married, Lawrence Harmon Sr. who preceded her in death in January 2014.  Early in their marriage, Lawrence convinced her to move Philadelphia.  In 1973, they moved their family to Willingboro NJ.  Together they were members of a volley ball club and volunteered to help with their children’s activities.  She was very instrumental in sewing uniforms, color guard flags and stepping in as a surrogate mother when in the capacity of chaperone on various trips. After years as a stay-at-home mom, she went to work for General Electric (GE) as a Quality Control Inspector until she retired.  Flossie was best known for her cooking and loved hosting for every holiday.  She enjoyed spending summers with her grandchildren as they affectionately, called “Camp Mom-mom and Pop-Pop”.  Flossie believed in putting God in all that you do. She was a member of High Place Church in Merchantville, NJ and enjoyed attending services.  She is survived by her three children: Fixice Taylor (Susan),Tonia Harmon-Lloyd (Lamont) and Lawrence Harmon Jr. (Marea) grandmother to eight: Richard, Nathaniel, Katherine, Morgan, Lawrence III, Amani, Avery, Ayana –six great grand-children Travon, Alicia, Nolan, Nathaniel Jr, Ariel, and Xavier along with a host of extended family members, friends along with best girlfriends Essie Canty and Carol Wilson.
