Obituary of Larry L. Hargrove

Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Larry Lindbergh Hargrove Sr. was born on December 8, 1954 to the late Charlie and Lizzie Hargrove in Manson, North Carolina. He was the fifth of six children, three of whom preceded him in death. God called him home from labor to reward on December 4, 2016. Larry migrated with the family to Philadelphia as a toddler. He was educated in the Philadelphia school system, graduating from Benjamin Franklin high school in 1972. After high school Larry worked with his brother Samuel cooking at Bookbinders restaurant. Larry showed an interest in cars and driving when he was very young, so it was no surprise when he became a tractor trailer driver. Larry drove for numerous trucking companies and owned his own truck, before settling in at Cumberland Farms. He drove for Cumberland Farms from 1987 – 2000, when his health began to fail. Larry was blessed with three beautiful children, Ebony Nicole, Larry Jr, and Bria Avita who preceded him in death in 2011. Larry’s family grew when he met Joyce Grant and her daughters Joanne and Susan. Larry and Joyce were married December 17, 1994. Larry leaves to mourn his passing: a devoted wife, Joyce; 4 children, Ebony, Larry Jr., Joanne and Susan; 1 daughter-in-law, Raushanah: 7 grandchildren, Zahmir, Kaleem, Kaleb, Kamora, Ameer, Jyquan, and Kaliyah; 1 sister, Cynthia; 1 brother Charlie Jr. (Portia); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
