Obituary of Ada Frances Young

Please share a memory of Ada to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ada Frances (Harris) Young was born on October 31, 1937 in Swainsboro, Ga. To late Sol and Mary Lizzie (Brown) Harris, and was called home to Glory on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, after a lengthy illness. She received her education at the Boggs Academy for Girls in Louisville, Ga. Ada also attended Morris Brown College in Atlantic, Ga. Throughout her life Ada continued to enhance her education. Upon moving to New Jersey, Ada worked at Owens Illinois in Bridgeton, NJ until the plant closed, then she went to work Scope Inc. She was a faithful servant of Jehovah throughout her adult life attending the Bridgeton Congregation. As an entrepreneur, Ada was the owner of Mary & Ada’s Beauty Supply Store, as well as, the owner/operator of “Ada’s Place” Restaurant in Gouldtown, NJ where her passion for cooking was well displayed and appreciated. Ada could take anything from the kitchen and make it taste like a gourmet meal...she loved to cook and “feed” you! Ada had a passion for singing as well. One of her favorites songs was the “ Lord’s Prayer.” Because of her singing ability, as a young woman Ada was requested to sing at the gravesite services for the president of Bogg’s Academy, her alma mater. She loved to sing and also love “ hearing” her family laugh and sing as they gathered together at the homestead on so many occasions. There she would be cooking up “ something good” for anyone who stopped by. Her laughter and beautiful smile would light up the house!! She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Melinda Berry; granddaughter Davada (Precious) Lewis; seven great grandchildren– Justin, Navada, Marvin Jr,, Marquan, Trevon, Markiva and Davion; one great-great granddaughter Heavenly Joy. Her sisters– Johnnie Bell Harris, Dorothy Barco and Mary Reves; her brothers– Saul (Jackie), Clinton (Frances), and Lynn (Thomasena) Harris; one brother-in-law Benny Young; her mother-in-law; Emma Ware, her precious loving caregivers Deborah Brown and nephew Paul Mack; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband David Young, parents Sol and Mary Harris, sister Lynette Still and brother Tommy Harris. The family would like to give roses where roses are due by recognizing and giving a heartfelt “Thank You” to her caregivers. Because of the commitment by her brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Thomasena Harris, Ada was afforded the opportunity to live her last years on earth peacefully at their residence surrounded by the continued love and support of her family. We an never “Thank You” enough for giving of your time and devotion to Our Ada. May God continue to bless and richly reward you for all that you have done. Lovingly Submitted, The Brothers and Sisters
