Linda Crisdon (July 22, 1960 - November 27, 2024) was a vibrant and loving individual who left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone she touched. Born to Lorraine Crisdon and Albert Hughes, Linda grew up Camden City and was educated in the Camden City Public Schools, where she developed a passion for basketball that would stay with her throughout her life. On the court, Linda was a force to be reckoned with. Her impressive skills earned her a spot as a top player on the Woodrow Wilson Tigers basketball team, and she was recognized nationally for her outstanding leadership and high scores. She was often the first one chosen to play on a team due to her ultimate skills. Linda also participated in a basketball leagues such as North Camden's summer youth programs, playing in tournaments and championships challenging teams from all over the city and region. Her status on the court was well-deserved. She was considered legendary, and her name was synonymous with excellence in basketball. Go Linda! In addition to her athletic pursuits, Linda had a successful career, working at various establishments, including Bamburgers, where she was a beloved waitress and server. Her coworkers adored her, and she cherished the friendships and memories made during her time there. Linda also worked at the Harbour League Club, where she took pride in her work, she enjoyed being dressed in her black and white uniform always ensuring she looked immaculate. Her attention to detail and dedication to her job earned her the respect and appreciation of her colleagues. Her favorite tasks were setting the table and serving good food. For 15 years, Linda worked in the Maintenance department at Northgate 2. She was devoted and well-loved for her services. Her work also extended to her community and the people that reside in Northgate 2. She dedicated her time to caring for seniors and the disabled with assisting them with meeting their needs. Liinda ran errands, cooked meals, took them outside to enjoy the day, and even invited them to family gatherings to enjoy a day with her and the family. Her selfless nature and kindness inspired those around her, and she will be deeply missed by the community she served. Linda's love for good food was legendary, and her family and friends will never forget her affinity for name-brand products. Her famous question, "What brand is it?" If she wasn't satisfied with the brand, she would kindly say "no thank you". It became a running joke that always brought a smile to everyone's face. She was also particularly fond of her all-white shell-top Adidas, which she would meticulously inspect before purchasing to ensure they met her high standards. Her purchase was definitely an experience as she held each pair to the light to determine the exactness and perfection in shape, size and the right color white. In her free time, Linda enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, watching her favorite TV shows, riding her bike, and listening to old-school R&B and hip-hop music. She was especially close to her "ace boon coon" Troy Watkins, who was by her side until the very end. They were friends for 50 years and were like brother and sister. Linda's favorite celebrities were Run DMC and Michael Jackson, and she cherished her collection of their memorabilia. She often encouraged her nieces and nephews to break out into Michael Jackson dance moves for her entertainment, and she would have a laughing good time watching them moonwalk and spin around and land on their tippy toes. Linda's heart was pure gold, and she spent her life selflessly giving to others. Her family and friends will deeply miss her laughter, her generosity, and her unwavering kindness. When her mother and aunt fell ill, Linda spent many years caring for them until they departed this earth. Her love and devotion to her family were unwavering. Linda lived her life from her heart space. You would hear others say that she has a heart of gold. Everywhere she went, people showed her lots of love. She spent her life selflessly, giving and being in service to others, genuinely. However, don't let her kind heart fool you - just don't do anything to upset her, because the wrath that came with that was a serious lesson. As Linda herself said in her final days, "I Am Not Afraid." Her bravery and spirit will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, dear Linda. Your love, light, and legacy will never be forgotten. She was predeceased by her parents, Lorraine Crisdon and Albert Hughes, as well as her close cousin, Ursley Parker. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving sisters, Cynthia Crisdon and Monique Crisdon; brothers, Tyrone Crisdon and Warren Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will deeply miss her love, laughter, and presence in their lives.
