Katherine’s Early Life


Katherine Taylor was born February 2, 1943, to the late Robert and Emma Taylor.


Katherine attended Wedlock Elementary School in Edmondson, Arkansas. She later attended Wonder High School in West Memphis, Arkansas. Katherine left high school as a teenager and moved to Chicago, Illinois where she would later marry William Arnold. With that union, her three children were produced, Rhonda, Marie, and Karen.


In 1970, Katherine (affectionately called “Miss Kat", "Aunt Kat", or “Nana”), later moved to NJ and found work at PHC Industries where she was a faithful employee for 34 years.


In 1984, Katherine met and married the love of her life, the late Myron Briscoe (of Washington, DC), at her favorite place, Atlantic City, NJ. Together, they spent 38 wonderful years together until his death in January of 2023.


Katherine loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, church members, and friends. She was the Matriarch of the family, and anyone who came in her path was loved and taken care of.


Katherine loved family gatherings, cooking and eating crabs, catfish, barbecue ribs (no sauce), chitterlings, and cucumbers/tomatoes marinated in vinegar. She also loved to cook her vegetable soup on cold winter days and was often asked to make Chicken and Dumplings (from scratch) which was “Oh so delicious". Katherine was a very picky eater.


Preceding in her death, was her husband (Myron Briscoe), Six brothers, Robert Lee, Willie, Gifford, Nelson, Jimmy, and Stanback, two sisters: Emma and Willie Lee. Katherine has one living brother, Banks Taylor, one living sister Pearlie Cox (Harrison), and one special sister-in-law Carrie Taylor.


She leaves to cherish her memory: Three daughters, Rhonda Hamilton, Marie Arnold, and Karen Arnold. Three granddaughters: Octavia Smith (Bruce), Kidahda (Jeremy), and Chuckia. Four great grandchildren: Dejour, Laneara, Chase, and Hamilton. A host of nieces nephews, family, and friends. Katherine has a special niece who throughout her life, in sickness and in health who always visited regularly, Terry Jackson. Thoughtful consideration to Clifford Harris Jr. whom she helped raise.
