Marie B Harris, daughter of the late Ernest T and Martha E Beverly departed this life on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, New Jersey. She was born on July 31, 1932, at Cooper Hospital in Camden, New Jersey. Marie attended Pennsauken, New Jersey Public Schools.
On August 6, 1951, she married Harold H. Harris, Sr. in Merchantville, New Jersey. To this union three children were born: Harold, Jr., Glenn and Martha (Sissy).
Marie attended Calvary Baptist Church in Merchantville, New Jersey as a youth and later joined Calvary Baptist Church as a teenager. She was baptized by the late Rev. John W. Walker. She served as a Deaconess, choir member, usher, as well as serving on the kitchen committee.
She was ordained as a Deaconess in November 1993. Later, Marie became a member of Second Baptist Church in Moorestown, New Jersey. Marie was an x-ray technician at St. Lukes Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She also worked at J.C. Penney in Cherry Hill, NJ She retired in 1994 from Liquor Fair, where she worked in all three of their stores, Cherry Hill, Pennsauken & Lumberton, New Jersey.
Marie loved reading, baking and making memories with her family and friends. She always helped family and anyone in need. She was a great inspiration to her family.
Marie is survived by: two sons, Harold, Jr. of Camden, NJ, Glenn of Dover, DE, one daughter, Martha (Sissy) of Pennsauken, NJ; one son-in-law, Charles Shorter, Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Yvonne Harris; two grandsons, CJ and Caleb; one granddaughter, Dominique; one great granddaughter, Novalee; one brother Thomas Beverly; three brothers-in-law, Leroy Harris, William Harris and Wellington Hughes; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Beverly and Ursula Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
