Margaret G Bouie Obituary

Margaret Gwendolyn (Broadway) Bouie was born on March 8, 1949, to the late Elizabeth Hubbard Broadway and John D. Broadway in Polkton, NC. She was the eighth of fourteen children born to Elizabeth and John.

Margaret received her education in Baltimore, Maryland, and Camden, New Jersey. She was a devoted, loving, and caring mother to Edward and Theresa Broadway, whom she cherished with overwhelming affection and unconditional love. Her children were her world, and she dedicated as much time to them as possible, often volunteering at their sporting events and accompanying them on trips during their childhood.

In 1992, Margaret married the love of her life, Vincent Bouie. They shared a deep passion for each other and for the Lord, both being dedicated members of St. John Baptist Church, where they met. Vincent and Margaret enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. They resided in Willingboro, NJ, until Vincent’s passing in 2013.

One of Margaret’s greatest joys was becoming a grandmother to her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. Family and friends were incredibly important to her, as was her faith. She was deeply involved in her church, not only attending services but actively participating in various ministries. Volunteering brought her immense joy, and she treasured the company of her church family.

Margaret was known for her elegance, kindness, generosity, and impeccable style. She touched many lives with her warmth and compassion.

She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Broadway; stepdaughters, Tania Bouie and Renee Guthrie; and bonus daughters, Sonya Harris (Brian), Robin Wilson-Smith (Kenneth), and Tracey Wilson. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Malcolm, Alexus, Antoine, Edward, Jordan, Giovanna, Nicolina, and Kesha; great-grandchildren, Javier, McKenzie, and Jordyn. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters, Lena Anthony and Charlene Broadway; her brother, Alvin Broadway; her sister-in-law, Mary Broadway; her devoted caregivers, Betty Faulk Melvins and Mary Gonzalez (goddaughter); her best friends, Joann Cade and Gladys Shepard; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Bouie; her son, Edward Broadway; her granddaughter, Teisha Broadway; and her siblings, Janet Richardson, Arthur Broadway, Joann Broadway Hamilton, Sylvia Broadway, Wilma Williams, Rosa Broadway, Phyliss Broadway, Norman Broadway, Jackie Ray, and Esta Mae Broadway, as well as her parents, Elizabeth and John Broadway.

Margaret’s legacy of love, faith, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
