Jose Manuel Irizarry Mendez born on April 5, 1945, to Rosa Mendez and Balbino Irizarry in Lares, Puerto Rico. Jose's life journey is a testament to the power of resilience and a strong spirit. At the tender age of nineteen, he moved to the United States from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Jose cherished every moment spent with his loving wife Milagros and his adult children and grandchildren, creating a legacy of love. He spoke lovingly of his motherland. His heartbeat for the serene beaches of Puerto Rico - where he found solace in the tranquility of the ocean. Mangoes, a fruit of divine sweetness, were his delight while visiting home. He was devoted to serving his Lord Jesus Christ, a radiant example of unwavering faith and dedication. He enjoyed serving the Lord, making routine visits to his church services and preaching the word of God to anyone willing to lend an ear. His dedication to the church earned him numerous accolades before he transitioned from the Assemblies of God Biblical Institute, graduating with high honors and receiving several awards, including the prestigious Chaplain award. As a carpenter and craftsman for 20 years, Jose loved tinkering with gadgets and mechanics. He collaborated with several companies throughout his lifetime in Camden, New Jersey where most of his adult children grew and thrived. Additionally, he courageously served as a law enforcement officer with the Philadelphia Police Department for five years and subsequently pursued alternative career opportunities within the United States. Jose's passions included playing dominoes and watching his favorite television show such as Sanford and Son and enjoyed movies with Bruce Lee, sharks and cowboys - which inspired him to become a unique individual. He passed away on February 27, 2025, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Jose was a devoted father, deeply committed to his children Iris Milagro (Sean) Flaherty, Jose Manuel Irizarry Jr., Iris Milagro (Paul) Roscoe, Dianette Irizarry (youngest daughter - deceased), Samuel Manuel Irizarry, and Daniel Santos (Meraly) Irizarry and stepchildren, Miguel and Barbara. He is survived by his 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, 1 great-granddaughter, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and several devoted church friends.
