Obituary for Winifred "Winnie" Dozier Winifred "Winnie" Mary Farrow, born on April 9, 1929, in Manchester, England, to loving parents Edgar Hewitt Farrow and Mary Jane Gormley, passed away peacefully at the age of 95. She was the youngest of her siblings, Raymond Farrow, Edward Farrow, and Doris Farrow, and grew up as a whimsical child with a love for adventure. From an early age, Winnie had a deep love for art, reading, travel and the human connection – a passion that stayed with her throughout her life. Her grandchildren fondly remember her taking them on adventures on the ferry, visiting her favorite places. Her compassionate and adventurous nature led her to meet the love of her life, James Phillip Dozier, affectionately known as Jimmy. Their love story began when they met in England, where Jimmy was stationed, and it was love at first sight. Winnie often smiled when she recalled that they danced the night away. The couple married on October 4, 1952, in Dublin, Ireland, and soon after Winnie crossed continents and cultures to join her husband in the United States, beginning a new chapter filled with love and family. She bravely took the 7-day voyage on a ship alone, and on February 8, 1954, arrived in New York, New York. Once established, she was reunited with her son, Raymond, who was living in England. Winnie and Jimmy's love created a beautiful, blended family, including the birth of their daughters Yvette and Michelle. Winnie took great joy in bringing her family together through gatherings, birthday parties, and heartfelt visits. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and ability to make every moment feel special. Whether it was through her love for reading, drawing, or journaling, Winnie’s life was a reflection of her deep spiritual ties, introspection, and unwavering belief in the goodness of others. Her heart was as big as her soul, and those who knew her loved her dearly. Winnie was forgiving, loving, and always saw the best in people, a trait that earned her the affection and admiration of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Winnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Dozier, her son, Raymond Dozier, and her daughter, Michelle Dozier. She leaves behind a cherished legacy, including her devoted daughter, Yvette Ingram, her loving grandchildren, Gary Dozier, Najah Jones, Tove’ Ingram, and Ayanna Costley and her great-grandchildren, Na'Derah Bryant, Jasmine Ferrer, Cedric Jones, Jr., Keturah Jones, Zafir Jones, and Ahmad Rosebud. Additionally, she is survived by a host of family and friends who adored her and will miss her dearly. To know Winnie was to love her. Her spirit, her love for others, and her ability to bring joy to those around her will never be forgotten. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave in life. Lovingly submitted by the family.
