Youlamay A. Pritchett Obituary

Youlamay Arzetti (Bunyon) Pritchett, a beautiful baby girl, was born to the union of Ulysses and Mamie Bunyon, on July 15, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the fourth child of eight siblings. Youlamay was affectionately called “Youla" by her family and friends. Youla accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized; this led to her Christian journey as a faithful servant of God.

Youla grew up and attended school in the Philadelphia School District and graduated from Edward W. Bok Vocational High School, her field of study was Dress Making. After graduation she became a Master Seamstress in a textile factory. On August 29, 1959, she married David A. Pritchett, Sr. and from this union four children were born, David Jr, Teresa, Sharon, and Lynice.

Youla had various vocations and careers throughout her life. Youla was employed at Pomeroy’s and Sears department stores, and she worked as a teacher’s aide in the Philadelphia and the Willingboro school districts. She was employed on the state level as a clerk in the New Jersey Department of Human Services in Camden. She then moved to the federal level where she advanced from Payroll Clerk to Secretary in the Department of Interior in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and later she was promoted to Secretary in the United States District Court also in Philadelphia until she retired in 2002.

Youla was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Friend, and steadfast Christian. She lived a full life, surrounded by her family and friends at every birthday, holidays, and celebrations. She was the proud owner of two houses in her lifetime, the first house on Pfeiffer St, Camden, NJ and the second house on 47th St in Pennsauken, NJ. At both houses, she welcomed those who visited with open arms. She loved to travel, both near and far, and enjoyed many vacations and cruises with her family as well. She never drove a car, but you would never know it. She could plan a trip anywhere by bus, train, or plane, she would be on her way. She loved to cook, and her family looked forward to her delicious home cooked meals. She was a spectacular woman who loved her family and made everyone feel special. She also loved the Lord and was actively involved in her church.

It was Good Friday, April 18, 2025, when the Good Lord called His Angel home. At the age of 87, Youla lived to see four generations before entering into eternal rest at her house in Pennsauken NJ, in the presence of her daughters. Our love and memories of her captured in photos will remain forever.

Youla was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Pritchett, Sr.; her parents, Ulysses and Mamie Bunyon; her siblings, Ulysses Jr, Ronald, Lester, Patricia and Joanna.

She leaves to cherish precious memories: Robert Bunyon (brother), Jean McCarthy (sister), David Jr (son), and three daughters, Teresa, Sharon (Keith) and Lynice; seven grandchildren, Asia (Rafael), Chris (Nichole), David III (Rebeka), Anthony (Rebekah), Tim (Marinel), Kiana and Kayla; twelve great grandchildren, Terrill, Adrienne, Anthony, Grace, Angelia, Charlotte, Gino, Jairus, Jonah, Hope, Kalea and Kaden and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. She was cherished by all who knew her.

Blessed be the name of the Lord. Blessed by His Glorious name. Amen.
