THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF
ROBERT PRESTON ROGERS, SR., a husband, father/grandfather, and dedicated community servant, passed away on June 8, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on January 5, 1943, in Camden, New Jersey, to the late Virginia Watson and Preston Downes. Robert was a lifelong resident who took pride in his roots. He was educated in the Camden public school system and later obtained his Associate's Degree at Camden County College. His passion for helping others led him to obtain numerous certifications in substance abuse counseling, a field in which he served with compassion and integrity for many years.
As a result of his work, Robert was recognized by both his peers and national organizations for his impact in the field. Robert received a Proclamation in 2009 from the State of New Jersey in which he was recognized for his extraordinary service to the community and the State of New Jersey.
Robert believed deeply in the power of recovery and second chances. Through his work, he touched countless lives, offering hope, support, and guidance to individuals and families facing difficult challenges. His legacy of service and empathy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Robert was preceded by his wife, Olive M. Rogers, and his brother Mickey. He was a proud father to his children: Robert P. Rogers, Jr. (wife LaTonya), Christopher T. Rogers (wife Maria), Stacey Rudolph, and Troy Holman as well as his grandchildren, Sorrelle, Ahkhira, and Nikeya, as well as his great grandchildren Alina, Nyla and Sincere. Robert’s family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Robert will be remembered for his quiet strength, his unwavering commitment to his community, and the deep love he had for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and service that will not be forgotten.
