Obituary of Steven L. Edwards

Steven Lamont Edwards (72) of Willingboro, New Jersey passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2025. Steven affectionately known as Stevie Boy & Stevie Levy was born to the late Gertrude Martin and Lawrence Edwards on September 1st, 1952, in Mount Vernon, New York. He was the second eldest of six children in a close-knit family. Steve was educated in the Mount Vernon school system. He was an avid athlete, participating in his school's swim team where they won many championships. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for 3 years, where he received an honorable discharge in 1973. Shortly after leaving the service, he moved to Willingboro, New Jersey where he has resided for over 45 years. During this time, he welcomed two children with his former spouse. He was a loving and devoted father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Beyond his work at the Navy Shipyard, Steve was passionate about repairing any make or model car with ease, attending car shows or being the chauffeur. Steve could often be found working on cars for his friends and family. Known as a jack of all trades he also enjoyed grilling, fishing, going to the casino and betting on horses. He spent countless hours at the racetrack studying forms, handicapping races and rooting for his favorite horses. He touched the lives of many with his profound sense of humor, warmth, creativity, curiosity, outgoing nature and his love for jazz. Steve was a generous friend and possessed a remarkable ability to connect with those around him. He will be deeply missed. Preceding him in peace are his sons, Shaundell Edwards and Christopher Edwards, his parents Gertrude Martin and Lawrence Edwards and his brothers Wayne Edwards and Gerald Scott Edwards. Steve’s loving spirit is carried on by his children Kenneth Murray, Eunice Bullock (Kacy Rivers) and Shirell Baker-Niang. His grandchildren, Cameron Edwards, Shaun Bullock Jr, Somer Bullock, Ayanna Bullock, Aris Matthews, Christopher Edwards Jr, Isaiah Robinson, Jeremiah Robinson and Caeliv Edwards. His great grandchild, Liam Bullock. His siblings, Wendy Davis, Darin (Yolanda) Scott and Tiffany Stewart. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
