Life Story
Milton D. Silva, lovingly known as “Malik” passed away leaving
behind a legacy of love, creativity, and joy. Born on May 22, 1963, in
Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, to Eulalia Rivera and the late Olivio Silva Sr.,
Milton’s journey began with deep roots in family and culture. In his early childhood, he relocated to Camden, New Jersey, where he attended the Camden City Schools through elementary, middle, and high school. He later pursued higher education at the Community College of Philadelphia, where he earned his associate degree, as well as his cosmetology license reflecting his passion for artistry and beauty.
To know Milton was to know joy. He was truly the life of the party, lighting up every room he entered. His creativity knew no bounds—whether styling hair, sewing clothes, designing home décor, or crafting, Milton’s gifts touched the lives of many. He was the proud “Motha” of the House of Excellence in Philadelphia, where he shaped and guided countless individuals inspiring them to be strong, independent, and unapologetically themselves.
In 2013, Milton answered another calling and entered the healthcare
profession. Caring for others came naturally to him; it was an extension of his generous spirit and compassionate heart.
Outside of work and community, Milton’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. He loved going to bingo with his mother, shopping, crafting, and simply enjoying life. Known as the ultimate “dance queen,” Milton never missed a chance to take the floor, battle,
and captivate everyone with his energy and flair. His love for fashion, especially Burberry, made him its unofficial ambassador.
Milton will be remembered for his laughter, his vibrant spirit, and his unwavering love for family and community. His light will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know him.
Milton was preceded in death by his father, Olivio Silva Sr.; his
beloved son, Brian Cook, his nephews, Nate and Sadiq, brother-in-law Tyrone May Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted mother, Eulalia Rivera; his brothers, Hector Martell, Angel Torres (Jenny), Jose Mercado (Marina), Jose Feliciano, Baldwin Feliciano, Edwin Feliciano, Angelo (Tammy), and his sisters, Carmen May, Gladys (Ita) Feliciano, Shante Perry (Carlos, deceased), and Elizabeth Silva- Rodriguez, bonus sister Amy Mason.
