Deaconess Lillian Doris Still, on October 9, 2025, heard the voice of her Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ, calling her name to come home.
Deaconess Lillian Doris Still, was born to the late Geoge Darrisaw and Elisabeth Smith-Darrisaw on January 16, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA. Lillian was the youngest of fourteen sibling, who all preceded her in death. Lillian’s family moved from Philadelphia to Lawnside, NJ. At the age of twelve, Lillian joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church at a prayer meeting service, under the leadership of Rev. J. H. Hampton.
Deaconess Lillian Doris Still, was educated in the Magnolia School System; she graduated from Hadden Heights High School in 1952. Lillian attended a business School, where she learned shorthand and other office practices. Lillian attended Camden County College where she received some college credits.
Deaconess Lillian Doris Still’s first job was on a goat farm in Haddonfield, NJ. After graduation, Lillian worked at Gimbles Department Store and later was employed at the Cigar Factory in Camden, NJ. Lillian also worked cleaning jobs at Healey Funeral Home as well as cleaning homes. Lillian worked for Aetna Insurance Company from there she worked for Internal Revenue Service in the Treasury Department, where she met Sis. Mariam Mittchell who became her best friend and traveling partner. Lillian worked for Martin Luther Kings Daycare in Camden, NJ. Her last employment was with the Camden School District as an Instructional Assistant. After retiring, Lillian stayed busy doing her missionary and church work.
Deaconess Lillian Doris Still, was a lifetime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, under the late Rev. Ralph D. Graves, Sr., and Sis. Saundra Graves First Lady where she was consecrated as Deaconess. At Mt. Olive, Deaconess Lillian was a very active member. She severed as the President of the Senior Choir, Past President of the Pastor Aide. She was a faithful member of Sunday School, Bible Study and Prayer Meeting. Deaconess Lillian worked as a leader/ teacher for the Adult Vacation Bible School and was the Financial Secretary for the Youth Vacation Bible School. Deaconess Lillian was a Willing Worker, Member of “WOW” (Women of Worship), Mt. Olive Senior Missionaries, and enjoyed going caroling every Christmas to the sick-shut-in. She was an Emeritus Deaconess and continued to support the younger deaconess in their day-to-day ministry. Deaconess Lillian was a member of the Maude S. Walker and the Bethany Baptist Association Missionary. She truly loved attending events with her daughter Patricia. She faithfully severed as Treasurer for the New Light Union and attended the latest session in August 2025. Deaconess Lillian supported the Bethany Baptist Association and the GBCNJ South Jersey District Choirs as well as the State. She attended the last session in Bethany Baptist Association in September 2025. Deaconess Lillian was the mother to the Eld. Michael Crews and the Fellowship Experience Music Ministry where she attended rehearsals as well as concerts. Deaconess Lillian would be sitting in the audience with her son, Perry, singing along as wells getting her praise on. Deaconess Lillian traveled with her son Rev. Still and daughter Cyrese to most events and engagements.
After Pastor Graves retired, Deaconess Lillian was proud to see one of Mt. Olive’s own son and daughter take over the leadership of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Pastor, Rev. Dr. André E. Brown, Sr. and First Lady Latonya Brown.
Lillian met the late Perry O. Still, at Dixie Dance Hall in Camden, NJ. She really wasn’t a fan of the Stills. She had said “I wouldn’t marry a still”. But Perry wooed, and pursued until she gave in. It was said, by many men that Perry came stole the “prettiest girl from Magnolia and Lawnside”. There love blossom and they were married on the Fourth of July 1954. They were married for forty-one years. He was the love of her life, and she was his. Perry was devoted and loving husband. She did not give up when her husband passed, but instead she stood on the Word of God and adopted this scripture. “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Psalm 32:8.
From this union they raised their three children which they taught them to walk with the Lord. Lillian’s children, “arise up, and call her blessed” (Proverbs 31:28). Her love, wisdom, and prayers have kept the family strong in the Lord. Her children are all working for the Lord. In reality she had five children, because she believes there are no “in-laws”. She has four Grandchildren. She is very proud of her grandchildren and has faith that they can do all things thought Christ. God blessed her to have Eight Great-Grand Children, they bring “Grammy” much excitement, enjoyment, interesting conversation and much love, the youngest who is schedule to arrive on November 3, 2025.
Lillian truly related to Kirk Franklin song “Smile”, because she is always smiling, singing a song, as well as greeting and welcoming people and spreading the good news that Jesus Saves. If you knew Jesus like she did, you would smile, too.
She would always encourage us to “Let Jesus Lead You, He’s a Mighty Good Leader”. Every morning at 5 am, you would find her sitting downstairs reading her word and praying. Even when she was diagnoses with breast cancer in 2011. It did not stop her. After her surgery, the next Sunday she was back singing on the Senior Choir. When Deaconess Lillian was diagnoses with Dementia in 2020, the Lord allowed her to know all her children, grandchildren and great grands by name. In May 2025, she was diagnoses with Endometrial Cancer, she still continued to serve her Lord and she would sing: “One day at time Sweet Jesus, that’s all I’m asking of you”. Her step got slower, but her praised got stronger until her last breath.
She leaves to carry on her legacy: Deacon Perry G. Still, who is married to Deaconess Patricia Still, her daughter, Cyrese D. Still and her youngest son Rev. Darryl K. Still, who was married to Late Heather D. Still, four Grandchildren: Daneé K. Still, Delmar S. Brown, Serena L. Still and Ian N. Still soon the be married to Whitney Underwood-Still Eight Great-Grand Children, Devon J. Primas, Jr., Synae L. Primas, Jonathan W. Sanders, Jayla D. Brown, Delmar Joshua Brown, Jurnee Deana Brown, Syhani B. Primas and Youngest Great Grand baby girl Still. Special niece and nephew Carrie Lewis and Ronald Darrisaw, One sister in-law Denise Still, Her Close and traveling bestie, Sis Mariam Mitchell, a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, spiritual sons, and daughters who loved on her and she loved on them. Specially thanks to her primary care provider Janet Osayamwen, APN and Nurse Lynn Durmala and the Virtua’s Palliative Care Team. We know there was a great reunion in Heaven when she saw her love ones and Jesus.
