Joshua Cruz

September 29, 1993 – October 12, 2025

Joshua Cruz, born in Camden, New Jersey, on September 29, 1993, left us far too soon on October 12, 2025. At just 32, Josh lived more life in his years than most do in a lifetime, and he did it with unmatched energy, laughter, and love.

To know Josh was to know joy. He was the heartbeat of every gathering, the life of the party, the one who could make you laugh even on your worst day. If you heard joking, laughter, and someone trying to FaceTime you for the fifth time in a row, chances are it was Josh. He didn’t believe in regular phone calls; if he couldn’t see your face, it didn’t count.

Josh had a passion for dirt bikes, the kind that made you worry but also made you proud. He was fearless on those bikes and always had the freshest pair of sneakers on while doing it. A proud fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, he repped his team with the same loyalty and spirit he showed to those he loved.

And oh, how he loved. Nothing meant more to Josh than his family. He was a proud son to Nancy Perez and Pedro Cruz Sr., a loving brother to Brenda Perez, Juan Cruz, and Kimberly Perez. He was a cherished grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, but the title he wore most proudly was “Dad.” His son, Josiah Zachary Cruz, also known as “JoJo,” was his entire world. From his silliness to heartfelt talks, Josh lit up every moment he spent with Jojo. His bond with his girlfriend, Mariluz Ortiz, was filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams.

Josh lived out loud. He loved hard, laughed louder, and made sure no one he loved ever felt alone. Whether he was cracking jokes, revving up his dirt bike, showing off his latest kicks, or facetiming, he was always present, always Josh.

Though our hearts are heavy and our lives forever changed, we take comfort in knowing his spirit will never fade. Every Chiefs game, every joyful laugh, every moment spent with family—he’ll be there.

Rest easy, Josh. We will miss you. If only we could have one more facetime from heaven.
