Evelyn Irene (Pierce) Carney of Pennsauken, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on January 24, 1930, to Elizabeth M. Pierce and Harry Pierce. Evelyn was the third daughter born of seven children.
She was born and raised in Bridgeton, New Jersey, and remained a lifelong resident of New Jersey her entire life. She had five sisters and one brother.
Evelyn attended Gould Town Elementary School.
She worked in a local sewing factory as a seamstress and was also employed by a Yarn factory in Riverside, New Jersey.
Evelyn was a single mother of two sons from her first marriage, Robert and Benjamin, until she met and married Orville Carney. Together, she and Orville had one son.
She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her children and family were her pride and joy.
Evelyn faithfully attended St. Matthew's United Methodist Church for many years, along with her husband, Orville, in Pennsauken, New Jersey.
She loved being outdoors. She found pleasure in gardening and soaking in the warmth of the sunshine. Her hobbies include crafts such as knitting, crocheting, sewing, making alterations for family and generally working with her hands.
Evelyn was very family-oriented. One of her favorite occasions was hosting yearly family reunions at her home. Family members came from various locations to attend. She loved serving, cooking, and baking. She found much pleasure in entertaining and accommodating her family. She especially enjoyed seeing her sisters at these family events.
Evelyn is predeceased by her husband Orville Carney Sr, one son Orville Carney Jr (Tago), and one grandson, Russell Pierce, two sisters, Lillian Johnson, Marian Pierce and one brother, Harry Pierce Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory; Two sons, Robert Pierce Jr (Bethzaida), Benjamin Pierce (Debbie), one grandson, Robert Pierce III, one granddaughter Shannon, One great granddaughter, Mya, Three sisters; Geraldine (Geri / Esther) Howard, Elizabeth Ridgeway, Gladys Dungee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
