Marian D. Coleman Obituary

Marian Douglas Holmes Coleman was born May 12, 1931, in Essex County, Virginia, to the late Henry L. Holmes & Sarah Janie Pitts Holmes. She was a graduate of the Essex County School System.


Marian met & married Garnett Coleman in 1951. From this union were born six children. Marva, Cynthia, Merriel, Garnett (deceased). Miriam and Cheryl. Marian became a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Minor, Virginia, at a young age.


She also attended Solomon Westley United Church in Davistown, NJ, with Pastor Johann D. Arnold & First Lady Drusilla Arnold.


Marian retired after forty-two years of service from Cooper River Convalescent Center in Pennsauken, NJ.


On January 12, 2026, angels came quietly & peacefully carried Mom home.


She is survived by her daughters, Marva Coleman, Cynthia Coleman, Merriel Coleman, Miriam Faye & spouse (Daouda), Cheryl Lemon & spouse (Hubert). Special daughter Taleathia Birthwright, Grandchildren Keisha Adkins & spouse Samuel, LaTonya Knight, and spouse Arvin. Christopher and Zyada Birthwright; Great-grandchildren: Kaleah Coleman, Hanniah Adkins, and Indierah Adkins. Three great-great grandchildren, Mehki Coleman, Jayden Coleman & Rayna Fields. & a host of nieces, nephews & cousins.
