Latanya Trahollis Obituary

In Loving Memory of Latanya “Tan” Chambers

August 31, 1950 – December 29, 2025

Latanya Ann Trohallis, age 75, peacefully entered eternal rest on December 29, 2025, in Largo,

Maryland, surrounded by love. Born on August 31, 1950, in Charleston, West Virginia, she

was the cherished daughter of Donald and Mabel Chambers, who raised her in a loving family

grounded in faith, resilience, and compassion.

Tan was preceded in death by her beloved siblings Gwendolyn Ross and brother-in-law Art

Ross, Stephen Chambers, and Michael Chambers, and sister-in-law Pamela Chambers. She

leaves to cherish her memory is her loving siblings Donald Chambers II, Dreama Rudrow,

Carol Simmons and brother-in-law Barry Simmons, and Jeffrey (David) Chambers, along

with a host of extended family and dear friends.

Affectionately known as “Tan”, she was the heart of her family—known for her gracious

hospitality, her giving spirit, and her legendary homemade rolls that brought everyone to the

table. Tan had a rare gift for making people feel seen, welcomed, and encouraged.

She was a devoted and loving mother to her two children, Irvin Gettys II and Kyona Trohallis,

and a proud grandmother to Irvin Gettys III, Kivon Gettys, Julian Worthington, Eric Neal,

Isaiah Neal, and Kennedi Neal, each of whom was a source of great joy and pride.

A lifelong learner, Tan was an avid reader who gravitated toward literature that was uplifting,

motivating, and educational. She enjoyed writing and expressing herself through words, but

above all, she loved the Lord. Her faith was not only spoken—it was lived daily through

service, encouragement, and love.

Latanya was a woman of remarkable accomplishment and purpose. She graduated from the

University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Wayne State University in

Michigan, earning her credentials as a Nuclear Technologist. An entrepreneur at heart, she

launched her first business, Trohallis Medical, a mobile medical service, in the 1980s in the city

of Detroit.

Her passion for empowerment led her to become a motivational speaker through Positively

Unique Seminars, where she poured into the community by providing resources and inspiration,

encouraging individuals of all ages to grow, expand their horizons, and live boldly—without fear

or apology. She later became a medical instructor, impacting hundreds of students by

motivating them to push past limitations and pursue their goals with confidence and

determination.

Never ceasing to serve, Tan eventually founded Just a Sister Away (JASA), a CPR training

agency under the American Red Cross, where she trained organizations and individuals in lifesaving

measures—extending her legacy of care and protection to countless lives.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her love lives on—in shared memories, family

traditions, and the many lives she touched through her faith, service, and encouragement. She

will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

While her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her family finds comfort in the promise of

resurrection and eternal life, trusting in the words:

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or

crying or pain.” — Revelation 21:4

Her legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to bless generations to come.
