Rashaun Na'im El-Amin Obituary
Rashaun Na’im El-Amin was born on January 3, 1982, in Camden, NJ, to Safiyyah El-Amin and Anthony Dickey.
Affectionately known as “El-Amin” and “Ready Reet,” he grew up between Camden City and Willingboro. His early years were filled with football, playing for the Centerville Simbas and the Willingboro Panthers, and later at Willingboro High School and Camden High School.
Ready had a warm spirit that naturally drew people in. He showed love freely and had a way of making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and at ease. From a young age, he carried a gift for humor, often turning heavy moments into laughter. With family and friends often saying he missed his calling as a comedian. He had a beautiful smile, a deep seriousness about him, and a presence that people felt long after he left the room.
He was unapologetically himself, honest, real, and full of personality. He loved music and dancing, especially to R&B and rap, and carried rhythm in his spirit and dance in his heart, always entertaining, leaving his mark on those he held close. Those who knew him understood that he was more than his humor; he was generous, intelligent, reflective, and thoughtful in his own way. Even if he made you upset, you loved him too much to hold a grudge because he was coming back around to make you smile.
On social media, his personality shined through his love of movies and series. Many knew him as the Facebook movie critic, often giving movie suggestions and holding forums to discuss, earning him the title The Movie King, and connoisseur, always, “READY” with an opinion or a laugh. He loved Allah and trusted Him with every step he took, carrying his faith quietly in how he lived and endured. In the later years of his life, he was surrounded by the loyal friends and loved ones who truly knew him. Never forgetting his Camden, Willingboro High, Lakeshore, and SB Family.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Basimah El-Amin, his aunt Wala Muhammad, and his uncle Rashad El-Amin.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his parents Safiyyah El-Amin Pease, Anthony Dickey, and Greg Pease; his grandmother Elaine Dickey; his wife Kenyatta El-Amin; his children and their mothers Kanira (Ashley “Keya”), Rashaun (Quante’), Nasir (Ashley), Jaynasia (Lena), Dream (Kenyetta), and Blessyng (preceded in death, Courtney); his siblings Latifah (Chombo), Jazmin (Ghana Jr.), Gregory (Aja), and Tyisha; his special (Aunt Taud) Tauheedah El-Amin and Ameenah El-Amin-Steede, Louise El-Amin; his godmother Shirvell; and many loving family and friends.
