Juan Rivera Obituary

Born on 07/30/1955. Died on 03/13/2026

Juan N Rivera was born on July 30, 1955, to his late mother, Julia Malave Pluguez, and his late father, William Rivera, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. He was one of nine children. He had four sisters and four brothers. Having many siblings meant always having someone to bond with and create memories. Growing up, Juan loved all sports. One of his all-time favorite sports was baseball. You couldn't tell him anything he didn't already know about baseball. Juan was also a comedian. He loved making everyone laugh. He always found a way to cheer someone up. That was his way of making other people happy. Juan was also very mischievous. He loved playing pranks on people.

Because he spent his youth years in Puerto Rico, he was able to explore his homeland. He was a consistent scholar until the ninth grade. Juan was forced to make a very serious decision in his adolescence. He was juggling the idea of finishing his education or getting a job to help his family with their financial needs. Juan decided to work. During these years, he met his ex-wife, Maria Montalvo. Together, they happily had three children, Norberto Rivera, Carlos Rivera, and their only daughter, Lismarie Rivera. Becoming a father was unforgettable for Juan. He worked hard every day as a fuel delivery driver to support his family. Soon after, his relationship became a disaster, which led him to divorce his wife. Trials and tribulations occurred, and things were difficult during this time.

Throughout his healing journey, he met Carmen Mercado. In his newfound happiness, they got married. Things were great for a while. By then, Juan's family had already moved to Camden, New Jersey. He and his new family decided to join them. Juan was ecstatic to be reunited with his family once again. They spent countless years with each other. Together, they created remarkable memories as a new family. They quickly found work at Quality Foods Inc. Here, his job title was forklift operator. He spent a few years working hard and learning many skills. Even at work, he was a joker. You always had to be careful when he was around. You never knew what he was up to. Once again, luck was not on his side. Things ended in another divorce. He was on the healing journey again.

On the way, he met Marisol Sánchez. She quickly became his partner and also his lover. They spent a considerable number of years side by side. Before you knew it, they were welcoming their son, Gerson Rivera, into the world. Juan was more than happy.

He enjoyed going to the casino and trying his luck. He loved having coffee from Dunkin' Donuts. In his last years here on Earth, he became very ill. Even then, he tried to be the happiest for himself. He still joked and made the most out of even the difficult moments. It is sad to see him go, but we all know he is rejoicing with his mother and father in heaven. He leaves behind his lifelong partner, Marisol Sánchez, four children, two grandchildren, two sisters, three brothers, several nieces and nephews, and countless friends. We ask that you make the most of the only physical life you have. Take care of your health. Lastly, make sure to find the good in the bad, make each other laugh, and love like no other, because that is what Juan would have wanted!
