DOLORES E. NIXON – OBITUARY

In Loving Memory Dolores E. Nixon March 14, 1948 – March 24, 2026

Obituary

Dolores E. Nixon, 78, of Willingboro, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026.

Born on March 14, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dolores was the daughter of the late William Walker and Dorothy Coleman. She was lovingly adopted and raised by the late Joseph and Elizabeth Patterson, whose care and guidance shaped her life. As a young woman, she attended Germantown High School and later graduated from Roxborough High School. Known for her joyful and sociable spirit, Dolores cherished her Philadelphia roots—playing Double Dutch, enjoying water ice and soft pretzels, and spending evenings on the porch catching lightning bugs.

Dolores lived a life marked by strength, perseverance, and deep love for her family. As a young mother, she worked multiple jobs while continuing her education and became certified as an EMT for Mt. Holly Township. Her determination led her into a career in bookkeeping and accounting, where her passion for numbers and commitment to excellence carried her forward.

In July 1981, Dolores met the love of her life, Walter R. Nixon. They were united in marriage on January 2, 1990, creating a strong and loving blended family. During Walter’s illness, Dolores remained faithfully by his side, demonstrating unwavering devotion, care, and strength. Her love never wavered.

Affectionately known as “Nana,” Dolores poured her love into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was present for life’s moments—attending events, offering encouragement, and always staying connected. Whether near or far, her presence was felt through her constant care, support, and love.

Later in life, Dolores was blessed to reconnect with her birth family, forming meaningful relationships with siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. These connections brought her great joy and a sense of wholeness.

Dolores devoted 25 years of service to Phillips and Cohen Associates (PCA) as a Compliance Officer. She retired on March 13, 2026, expressing gratitude for a career she described as “a job well done.” The month of March marked a season of celebration for Dolores—her 78th birthday, her retirement, time with family, and the joyful anticipation of another great-grandchild.

Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter R. Nixon, and her siblings Eudora, Ruth, Warren, Donald, Richard, Ronald, and John. She leaves to cherish her memory of her loving children: Sharron (D-Greg) McFaddin, Marcus G. (Pamela) Hughes III, and Travis (Scott) Hughes; her stepdaughter, Teri Nixon, and her stepson, Tommy Nixon.

She was a proud and devoted grandmother to: Gabrielle (Victor) McFaddin-Morgan, Gregory McFaddin, Marcus E. Hughes, Marcell Hughes, Shelby (J.R.) McFaddin Goetz, Malique Hughes, and Makayla Hughes.

She also leaves behind her step-grandchildren: Gretta McFaddin Easterling, Trevor Jackson, and Tia Jackson.

Dolores was blessed with great-grandchildren: Sean, Marcus J., and Myah, as well as step-great-grandchildren Gendiyah and Gemaiya, who brought her continued joy.

She is also survived by her siblings: Michael, Audrey, Lamont, Kandy, Eric, and Marie, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Dolores E. Nixon lived a life of purpose. She loved faithfully, worked diligently, and showed up consistently. Her life reminds us that love is not simply spoken—it is demonstrated daily through sacrifice, presence, and care.

Her legacy lives on in all who knew and loved her.

"Well done, good and faithful servant."
