Edna Thomas, a woman of immense heart and vibrant spirit, passed away on April 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and devotion. She was born in Henderson, NC on March 20, 1931, to Martha Jones and Edgar Evans. Edna entered the world as a healthy 10-pound baby girl. As an only child, she grew up surrounded by the love of a large extended family. Edna remained deeply connected to her roots, often sharing fond stories of the aunts and uncles who helped shape her life. 

Edna’s greatest joy was her own growing family. She was a pillar of strength through the highs and lows of motherhood, raising four children, Bernadette Fowler-Price (Douglas Price), Patricia Marks, Aledia Brown, and she carried the memory of her only son, Clarence White, who preceded her in death with quiet grace. Her love blossomed further with each generation, as she took immense pride in her 12 grandchildren, Antoinette, Ronald, Derrick, Clarence, Tanya, Lashonna, Nicole, Terrence, Elgin, Fidal, Teonna, Thomas, 22 great-grandchildren, and 18 great, great grandchildren.

Those who knew Edna remembered her as "full of life." One of her grandchildren said, “She always showed us how to enjoy life. She would get on the swing at the park and teach us how to pump ourselves up to our highest potential.”

When she wasn’t spending time with her family, she could often be found lost in a good book or enjoying her favorite stories on screen. Whether she was exploring the final frontier with Star Trek or trekking through the Old West in a classic western, her curiosity and imagination never faded.

Edna’s kindness and warmth were felt by everyone she met. She lived her life with great compassion, and her memory will continue to be a light for those she loved so dearly.
