Diane Elizabeth Miller, lovingly known as Bootsie, was born on October 26, 1948, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the youngest daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Mingo. She passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026. Bootsie spent her early years growing up on Bay Street in Atlantic City, New Jersey and her teen years on Folsom Avenue. She attended Indiana Avenue Elementary School, Chelsea Junior High School and Atlantic City High School. As one of seven cherished children, she grew up in a close- knit Christian Family.
As a devoted mother, she raised three children: sons Darren Mingo, who survives her, and Tracy Mingo and daughter Felice Miller both of whom are deceased. Bootsie lived a full vibrant life as a compassionate caregiver, dedicating many years caring for her mother, extending her life with unwavering love. She held many roles- from an x-ray technician at Atlantic City Hospital, to a blackjack dealer in the bustling casinos, and later as a supervisor in the billing department of a dermatology office in Bridgeton, New Jersey.
She was incredibly competitive- she loved Scrabble, Big Whist, and Spades, often celebrating triumphantly when she won. Quick -witted and sharp, Diane delighted in thousand -piece puzzles, telling jokes, watching her favorite reruns of programs on TV and preparing exceptional meals for those she loved.
Bootsie is survived by her son Darren Mingo, grand daughter Nikkia Mingo, great granddaughter A’lana, longtime companion Charles Rucker and siblings; Roger A. Mingo, Arlene Billingsley, Phyllis Cash-Smith, and Darryl E. Mingo, as well as beloved sister-in laws Gale and Sandy Mingo.
Also left to morn her passing are a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; Geneva Hargis, Andre Johnson, Nina Mingo, Robyn Cash, Rosalyn Wooding, Thomas Spaulding, Barry Jackson, Tamara Mingo-Crockett, Antwain Mingo, Antania Mingo-Lewis, Darryl K Mingo, Terry Rivers, Tracie Rivers and God Daughters Danielle Days and Kianna Hargis. Diane’s boundless spirit, infectious laugh, compassion and love of life will forever live on in our hearts.
