Dorothy Loretta Johnson was born on March 13,1932 in Montgomery AL, to the late Leo E. and Mary Alice (Gilmer) Johnson. She was the oldest of two children.

Dorothy was known by her middle name Loretta. She attended public school in Manhattan, New York where she graduated. In early adulthood she married and had two beautiful sons. Dorothy later moved to Connecticut where she was employed with the Bell Phone Company, now known as AT&T. There she made Connecticut her home until retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and sewing and sharing her talents with her loved ones.

Later, in life Dorothy eventually moved back to her birthplace home in Montgomery, AL to enjoy the southern hospitality of family, friends and church family. As her health began to fail, she moved to New Jersey to be in the care of her son and daughter-in-law.

Making the most of every opportunity and situation, her candid way of saying what was on her mind, whether joking or just having fun will be remembered for a lifetime. Dorothy made every moment in her presence an interesting occasion.
