Kevin Grady Neal, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and accomplished chef, passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of love, art, and culinary excellence. Born on March 24, 1961, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kevin was the second of three sons born to the late Grady and Marie Neal. He was raised in the Camden school system, a proud graduate of Wilson High School’s Class of 1978.

An artist at heart, Kevin earned an Associate degree in Art from the Philadelphia School of the Arts and initially shared his talents by teaching at his alma mater. His creative spirit and passion for food led him to explore the culinary arts. While working as a Cook at the Cooper River Convalescent Nursing Home, he met the love of his life, Lorraine. The two began dating in 1986, wed in 1990, and shared a beautiful, devoted marriage. Together, they raised three daughters: Shannon, Ashley, and Vanessa.

Kevin refined his culinary skills across several prestigious kitchens, inspiring his brothers Roland and Steve to also pursue the trade. His notable career highlights included his contributions at The Rittenhouse Hotel

and Whole Foods Market, where he had the honor of traveling across the United States to open new locations. In more recent years, while in retirement, Kevin discovered another passion–baking custom birthday cakes for his family. He was particularly delighted by the designs he created with his grandchildren, Anaya and Gil Jr.

Outside of his professional life, Kevin enjoyed reading about African American history, listening to music, watching sports, visiting record stores and thrift shops, discussing basketball, and critiquing his favorite TV series. He cherished spending time with his family, especially during the holidays when everyone would come together to prepare and enjoy meals.

Kevin’s memory will be forever treasured by his loving wife, Lorraine; his three daughters, Shannon, Ashley (and husband Gil, Sr.), and Vanessa; and his grandchildren, Anaya and Gil Jr. He also leaves behind three brothers, Danny (and wife Delphine), Steve (and wife Lisa), and Roland (and wife Krystal); one sister, Karen; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
