Celebrating the Life & Legacy of Dennis Butler

October 5, 1939 – August 9, 2026

Dennis Butler passed away on August 9, 2026, leaving behind a powerful legacy of faith, family, and service. Known to all as a gentleman and a scholar of the Bible, Dennis spent his life sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and dedicated himself to bringing others to the Lord through his powerful testimony.

Born to the late Joseph and Mabel Butler in the district of Duanvale, Parish of Trelawny, Jamaica, West Indies on October 5, 1939, Dennis later moved to Kingston, where he developed a deep love for the island, especially playing cricket and swimming. In his early career, he worked on Navy ships as a painter, traveling to the Panama Canal and Cuba.

His true calling, however, was rooted in his faith. Dennis attended Bible college to study the Word of God deeply. He went on to serve faithfully as a deacon at Kings Chapel Church in New York City, and later traveled to New Jersey, where he became a revered elder of True Witness Holiness Ministries. Everywhere Dennis went, he shared God’s Word and impacted countless lives. Later in life, he and his wife poured their hearts into their beloved home ministry, Bread of Life, sharing the gospel through Bible study. We are dedicated members of St. James Apostolic Temple, under the leadership of Bishop Joseph Scott.

Above all, Dennis was a deeply supportive and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He shared a beautiful marriage with his beloved wife, Pamela Gales Butler—a union truly made in heaven. They were the absolute best of friends, walking hand-in-hand through life, and sharing an unbreakable bond rooted in their love for studying and sharing the Bible together. Showing his profound commitment to his family's future, he held a special bond with his niece Countess and actively supported all of his nieces and nephews in their careers and higher learning.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Pamela; his 5 children; his daughters-in-law; his dear siblings, Lloyd Smith, Margarita Butler-Ray, Mando Butler, Ricardo Butler, and Federico Butler; and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the clergy, with special thanks to Deacon Green for his unwavering spiritual support. They also express profound appreciation to his dedicated medical team, including Social Worker Alexis and his beloved home health aide Jenny, for their exceptional, compassionate care during his golden years. His devotion to his family, his deep love for his wife, and his unwavering faith will never be forgotten.
