Obituary of Andrew Thomas Beckesh

Andrew T. Beckesh of Landisville, NJ died on September 5, 2016 at Kennedy University Hospital. He was born on March 7, 1921 to Lawrence and Mary Beckesh in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. Andrew was predeceased by his brothers, Stephen, Joseph, John and Michael. Andrew began his adult life when he was drafted into the United States Army in 1942. He served his country and was Honorably Discharged from the Army in 1945.He served his country proudly in the battles of Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and D-Day the Normandy Invasion. He received two Purple Heart Medals, an American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, a Victory Medal World War II and the Eame Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars. He received other decorations including medals from the State of Florida and the State of New Jersey for his military service. His name is also listed on the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. Andrew also received the highest award that the country of France bestows. He was appointed the Chevalier of the Legion of Honor by the President of the French Republic. He was a member of the American Legion, Am. Vets, Disabled American Veterans and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. After he was Honorably Dischared he met and married the love of his life, Elizabeth J, Anen who predeceased him in 1981. They were the proud parents of three sons, Robert Andrew(Donna) of Florida and their daughter Danielle Gallegos and her husband, Cody. They have two children, Alyssa Watt and Anthony Gallegros., Stephen Wayne, who in 2007 predeceased his father and his youngest son and caregiver for many years, Craig Michael, of Landisville, NJ. Andrew is survived by his extended family of nine nephews, ten nieces as well as ten great-nieces, eight great nephews and many great-great nephews and nieces. He is also survived by many who are like daughters to him. Also cherishing his memory are Jose Medina and Thomas Amoratis, III who were like sons to him and Reverend Father James White, who was not only a priest but a family friend. This man has truly been a hero to all and a rock for many. His memory will be forever imprinted in our hearts. I will always love you and never forget you, Dad... C.B.
