Obituary of Charles W Williams

Charles W. Williams, age 70, transitioned on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 while at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ following a brief illness. He was born on August 14,1946 in St. Louis, Arkansas to the late Cornelius and Bernice Hearns Williams. He received his education in the Arkansas public school systems St. Charles Elementary and Emanuel High School. Seeking better career opportunities, Charles relocated to South Jersey in 1964 following closely behind his sister, Bennie Mae Riveria who arrived in South Jersey a year earlier. The last 30 years of his life was spent working as an auto mechanic welder at Shieldalloy Metal-lurgical Plant in Newfield, NJ. Charles was known as "Mr. Fix-It", because if Charles couldn’t fix it, it couldn’t be fixed. He enjoyed using his hands and well after retirement he continued on as a mechanic, setting up shop at home. Between the home shop he also took on short-haul truck driving.In his spare time Charles enjoyed the Western Channel, all kinds of westerns especially Gunsmoke. He was also skilled in the kitchen. Chef Charles had an annual Thanksgiving tradition of preparing chicken and a pan of stuffing for each daughter and his grandson. He was a member of Faith Outreach Deliverance Church for over 16 years under the direction of Apostle Roma D. Allen, Sr. Charles is survived by his loving spouse, Adrian E. Bailey, step-daughter; Sharday A. Evans, step-grandson; Mekhi J. Evans, all of Pittsgrove Township, NJ, daughters; Valeria D. (TC Timo-thy) McCall, Jr. of Vineland, NJ, Patricia A. Williams of Vineland, NJ, brothers; Mack Williams (deceased); Nathaniel Williams of Little Rock, AR., Paul E. Williams; (deceased), Jerry W. Williams (deceased), Oliver J. Williams (deceased), sisters; Beulah A. Pruitt of Little Rock, AR. Josephine Page, (deceased), Bennie Mae Rivera of Vineland, NJ, Patty S. Williams of Little Rock, AR., Vernette Scruggs of Breaux, LA., and one grandson, John R. Calloway of Bear, DE.
