Obituary Steve Roberts, Jr. Steve Roberts, Jr. was born on May 29, 1925 in Lovelady, TX to Steve Roberts, Sr. and Mattie B. (Gibson) Roberts. He was the fourth of six children. Steve was raised in the Smith Grove Community and attended Center Grove High School, graduating in 1943. He attended Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, TX. He then enlisted and served in the United State Army from January 1948 and served until his retirement in November 1970. On January 6, 1955 he married Retha Mae Hayes in Kansas. They were blessed with two children, Paul D Roberts and Tina M. Roberts. Steve departed this life on Friday, February 10, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve, Sr. and Mattie B. Roberts, brothers; J.D. (Estella) Roberts, Earnest B. Roberts, Wilmer E. Roberts and James H. Roberts. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Retha M. Roberts of Willingboro, NJ, two children; Paul D. (Venita) Roberts of Merrillville, IN and Tina (Thomas) Albee of Willingboro, NJ. two granddaughters; Danielle Roberts of Indianapolis, IN and Gabrielle Roberts of Lafayette, IN. One sister, Doris M. (Paul, Jr.) Garrett of Palestine, TX, one sister in law, Louise D. Roberts of Lovelady, TX, and hosted of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
