Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Linda Violet Almodovar Affectionately known as Mom, Grandma/GGma, sister, titi, cousin, companion and friend. Linda was born on June 5th, 1952, in Camden, New Jersey where she was one of five children, daughter of Gregoria and Abraham Almodovar. During her school age years Linda gained her education from both public and Catholic schools in Camden, New Jersey. Following graduation from Camden High school she went on to further her education from Rutgers University in the city of Camden. It was from there she found her passion to be of service to others in need, and dedicated 33 years of her life to the Camden County Board of Social Services, her specialty, formerly known as the Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS). Here she helped hundreds of vulnerable children and women over the span of decades, formed meaningful relationships, and truly impacted others lives for the better. The courage it took and the stories she told, spoke volumes on the type of person she was to service the community of camden for as long as she did. In her later years she established Cherry Hill as her home up until her passing. Her home was one of the many ways she gave back to her family, which she vocalized often; that she wanted her grandchildren to have better opportunities and education. Linda’s hobbies consisted of traveling the world when in her younger years with close friends and relatives. Linda was also known for loading up all her grandchildren in a van every summer and road tripping them to Disney World for many summers. Linda was also known for being one of the only grandmother’s around who drove a Hummer 3x her size because it kept her safe. Her personality was loud and infectious in the best way possible. She knew how to make wholesome memories with her family and friends in any situation. Linda will always be remembered as someone who’s giving heart knew no limits. It did not matter whether you were blood related or not. Linda made a relative out of everyone she formed a genuine connection with. It did not matter the time or day, if she could help someone in need, she would open her arms and home without hesitation. Linda was a devout Catholic who owed all her strength to the Lord. She made it very clear, the role Jesus played in her life, and how he helped her overcome losing her son Giovanni Almodovar in 1993, and the peace he granted her with the years following. Linda will be immensely missed and survived by her children Shailah Almodovar and Martin Collazo. Her remaining siblings, Norma and Lydia Almodovar. Her grandchildren, Adila, Atalia, Catalina, Darryl, Jalin, Milan, and Giovanna. And her great grandchildren: Tristan, Levius, Enzo, Neviah, Ada Jane, Adison, Brianna, Giovani.
