Obituary of Byron Williams

Please share a memory of Byron to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Byron, “Bubbles” Primas - Williams was born on December 25, 1969 in Camden New Jersey to Serena Primas and Eugenio Rodriguez. Bubbles was a sweet baby, loved and spoiled rotten by his “Mom-Mom” (Lena). That was her baby!! He was educated in the Camden and Pennsauken NJ school systems and enjoyed playing football while at Camden Catholic High School. As a young boy, he was a member of Mount Hope Church in Camden NJ. There he was an original member of the Friday night club and an Acolyte. He was also a member of the Camden County Boy Scouts. Bubbles was a very old soul and rightfully so. As a child he spent most of his Saturdays hanging with his grandfather “Hoppy” at Steve’s Place drinking sodas and eating peanuts. His love of music stemmed from his times there listening to the jukebox. Bubbles loved an oldie but goodie. Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield were at the top of his list, and let’s not forget hip-hop. At one point we thought Bubbles was going to be a DJ. He loved scratching Run-DMC & LL Cool J records on his turntables and spent hours playing all the greats. Later he began working for Garden State Cable as an installation technician, but his true passion was being a chauffeur. He would drive you to the ends of the Earth if you needed him to and wouldn’t charge you a dime…. but you better have some gas money! In 1987, Bubbles fell head over heels for his “Love Forever” Jacqueline Chavis and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Together they raised three children: Jorge, Nonnie, and Boo-Boo. “Bud” as Jacqui affectionately called him, loved children as he himself was a big kid at heart, always pranking people and cracking jokes. He could impersonate anyone he knew and loved to make people laugh. Bubbles was extremely charismatic and knew he was the finest light skinned black man to ever walk the Earth! His heart was huge! He loved hard, which is why you could always catch him hanging out and entertaining one of his 10 grandbabies at any time. He loved being “Pop-Pop Bud” and letting his granddaughters do his hair. When he wasn’t being a hair model, you could find him cuddled up with Jacqui watching his favorite show, Sanford and Son. Bubbles has always been a fighter. He was no stranger to adversity. When he was diagnosed with cancer in 2019, he was given 6 to 12 months to live, but God…… Bubbles fought hard to live life on his own terms, every single day and lived an additional 4 years! We are truly blessed & grateful for the bonus time he had to spend with his family & loved ones. He and his mother, Serena, share a special birthday on Christmas day and they were able to spend it together and celebrate, one last time. Our beloved Bubbles was called home on January 27th, 2024. He transitioned peacefully at home with the help of his “Love Forever” and his mother. He will surely be missed by us all. He is preceded by his father Eugenio, stepfather Robert & son Jorge. To cherish and celebrate his memory he leaves: His wife, Jacqueline. Son, Boo-Boo (Shaniece). Daughter, Nonnie (Dav). Five grandsons: Dai’jon, Jorge “Phat Phat”, Jun Jun, Lonzo & Aayan. Five granddaughters: Jyiana “Pumpkin”, Azzure, Jordan “Cita”, Azanni & Aziyah “Little Miss Dottie”. Mother, Serena Primas-Williams. Sister, Serena (Michael). Brother, Jayson. Four brothers-in-law: Wesley (Judy), Dennis (Leonya), & David (Lakeydra) & Jeffery†. Three sisters-in-law: Patrice (Joe), Tina, Janelle; aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews, and a host of cousins & friends. Lovingly submitted, The Family
