Maxine Hardy, fondly known as "Max" among her family and friends was born on December 13, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Henry E. Willis, Sr. and Rebecca (Conyers) Willis. Maxine departed this life on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, NJ.

Maxine was raised in Lawnside, NJ, and received her education through the Lawnside Public School System. She developed her exceptional domestic skills through both family influence and various employment opportunities. Max worked for several companies in South Jersey, including ServiceMaster, Burlington Coat Factory, and the Vespe Family, where she left a lasting impression with her diligence and professionalism.

Maxine was known for her heart of gold and her willingness to help anyone in need. She took immense pride in her domestic abilities and was always eager to assist her neighbors at "The Plaza." To many in her hometown of Lawnside, Max was seen as a kind and compassionate soul who brightened the lives of those around her.

At an early age, Maxine accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior under the guidance of her grandfather, Rev. Charles Conyers. In the late 1970’s, she joined the Tabernacle of Faith Church family, where her faith and love for her church community remained strong throughout her life.

Maxine met the love of her life, Tommie Lee Hardy, Sr., in Camden, NJ, and they married on August 28, 1977. Together, they were blessed with their only child, Tommie Jr., affectionately known as TJ. The family cherished road trips to Florida, where they created many fond memories visiting loved ones.

Maxine took great pride in caring for her late husband and son. She found joy in listening to her favorite “Oldies” music, dancing, and indulging in her occasional casino trips. She was a regular at her favorite local spots, Dunkin’ Donuts and The Oriental Inn, where she loved to enjoy a fresh cup of blueberry coffee.

Maxine leaves behind her beloved mother, Rebecca (Conyers) Willis; her devoted son, Tommie “TJ” Hardy; her cherished grandchildren, Amir, Alliyah, and Tahjae; her sisters, Mary L. Brown (Richard) and Lorraine Willis; her brother, Nicholas Willis (Kathleen); her in-laws, Tony (NY) and Verna (NJ); her aunt, Geneva Reid; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Maxine’s legacy of kindness, love, and generosity will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
