Obituary of Brian J Stewart
Please share a memory of Brian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The family is saddened at the passing of Brian Joel Stewart-Rivera. He was cherished and loved amongst his family and his peers. Brian was born on October 13, 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the most handsome baby his mother, Sharita, ever laid eyes on. Sharita immediately fell in love with her baby boy.
As a child, Brian had a remarkable ability to connect with others often introducing himself to new friends with a cheerful, “Hi my name is BJ”. As he transitioned into his teenage years, he found joy in music, drawing and bringing laughter to his family. Brian had an unbreakable bond between his younger siblings Andre and Sharita (Rere). Brian learned the value of hard work early on, joining his dad and brother in a grass-cutting business that instilled in him a strong work ethic. A talented athlete, Brian played football for the local team in Sicklerville, showcasing his competitive spirit. This competitive spirit carried on in his love for the game of chess. Brian shared a special bond with his dad, Luis, playing chess and they enjoyed countless games that fostered both competition and camaraderie, Brian was extremely talented and creative. He had a creative mind and was truly an original. Brian would often draw and write raps and poems in his spare time. His creative abilities flowed and were demonstrated through his unique storytelling. Being a proud graduate in 1997, Brian carried his love for learning into community college, where he continued to expand his knowledge. As a young man, Brian enjoyed working in the medical imaging department at Kennedy. Shortly thereafter, Brian would soon begin his journey into fatherhood. In 2000, exactly seven days before his own birthday, Brian had his first baby girl, Iycis.
Brian’s early adulthood years was a time marked by a fearless embrace of life. Brian was a well-known figure among his peers and experienced a rich tapestry of stories that accompanied his life. His creativity, artistic spirit and originality manifested in everything he did. From his sense of style all the way to his innovative ideas, Brian was authentic to the core. He had a knack for going against the grain, he embraced his individuality and lived by his own rules. He would often set trends that others would soon follow. Brian’s ability to think outside the box meant he was always ahead of his time. Whether it was through his fashion choices, music preferences or artistic expressions. Brian was unapologetically himself at all times and a force to be reckoned with! Anyone who knew Brian knew he was deeply devoted to his loved ones. He was particularly protective over the women in his life: his wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunts and daughters. If anyone needed him, all it took was a quick phone call and he would arrive in a matter of minutes. He would always show up for those he cared about.
In February of 2015, Brian’s life took a beautiful turn when he married the love of his life, Jessica. They embarked on countless adventures that deepened their bond and created lasting memories. Whether traveling to new places or enjoying quiet evenings at home, their time together was filled with laughter and meaningful moments. Brian had a unique way of bringing humor into everyday moments, making their life together vibrant and fun. Brian and Jessica created a beautifully blended family made up of their four girls, Iycis, Isabella (Izzy), India (Indy) and Izaria (Zar Zar). The girls loved Brian’s playful nature and sense of humor. Brian was a source of laughter and made sure to fill the household with unforgettable experiences. Brian found great fulfillment in his role as a husband and father. He was the definition of a true protector and provider for his wife and daughters. Brian really cherished his role as a father, taking immense pride in watching his daughters grow into beautiful and successful young women.
Later in life, Brian transitioned to EPAC as a maintenance manager. He took great pride in his role ensuring operations ran smoothly.
Brian’s legacy is one of kindness, laughter and dedication to family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Amongst family and friends, Brian “BJ” was a caring spirit known for his infectious smile and warm-hearted nature. Brian, your memory and spirit will forever live on in our hearts.
