Wamsley Oloumfeh Victor Cecil Samuels was born on Saturday, April 21, 1945, in Freetown, Sierra Leone. He was the fourth child of Reginald and Lucy Samuels. He attended Ephraim J. Robinson Municipal Primary School and W.A.M Collegiate Secondary School. In the early 80’s he furthered his education in Lebanon and United Kingdom, and he was proudly one of the most professional top tier Fire Fighting administrator of the Sierra Leone Fire Department.

He migrated to The United States of America in 1992

Wamsley worked as a Health Support staff at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for over two decades. He retired in July 2011,

Wamsley loved watching a variety of TV programs but more focused on his News channels. He was passionate about music/entertainment, sound systems and he would prefer to turn up the volume so loud. He was also known for always attempting to repair most /if not all malfunctioning or inoperable electronic devices.

Wamsley, was a devoted Christian who was commissioned as a Lay preacher decades ago at St. Peter’s W.A.M. Church in Sierra Leone, he was a Chorister was a Chorister of the St. Peter’s W.A.M. Church in his youthful days and in 2019 during his visit to Sierra Leone, he was inducted as an Honorary Chorister. He was a faithful member and a Chorister St. Paul United Methodist Church in Willingboro, NJ.

Despite being constrained by his physical mobility, he would always tune in or catch up with live Church Services on Sundays.

Whenever he was asked how he was doing, he would say. “me foot don go wait for me na heaven”

Wamsley passed away at Virtua Willingboro Hospital on December 1, 2024. Wamsley was predeceased by his wife Theodora Samuels daughters Omotunde, Marcela, sons Wamsley Samuels Jr, Roland Samuels, Victor Samuels. Siblings Bartha Massaquoi, Richard A, Samuels, grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
