THANK YOU Obituary for Theresa "Tree" Harrington Theresa "Tree" Harrington, a devoted mother, grandmother, and woman of extraordinary faith, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous 6-year battle with chronic illness. She was 77 years old. Born on January 11, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Tree was the eldest daughter of Bernice Selby and Baxter Bivens. From her early years, she displayed a nurturing spirit, a strong work ethic, and an unshakable faith that became hallmarks of her life. She graduated from Edward W. Bok Technical High School and committed herself to a life rooted in love, service, and purpose. Tree shared a deeply loving and inspiring marriage with her late husband, Michael Harrington, who passed away in 2012. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and unwavering support for their family. Tree’s approach to motherhood was intentional and purposeful. She taught her children responsibility and accountability, always encouraging them to be better than her in every way. Her unwavering belief in their potential and her dedication to their growth became a cornerstone of their success. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her home was a sanctuary of love and celebration. Tree loved bringing family together under her roof, hosting joyous gatherings that created lasting memories. Whether it was a holiday, a birthday, or just a reason to be together, her warm hospitality was unmatched, and her love for family was at the heart of every celebration. Tree’s career reflected her dedication to caring for others. She began as a unit secretary at St. Agnes Hospital in Philadelphia, a role she held for many years before moving to Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, NJ. In 2000, Tree joined Riverview Estates Retirement Home, where she worked until her retirement in 2013. At Riverview Estates, she became a favorite employee, known for her kindness, professionalism, and warm spirit that brightened the lives of residents and colleagues alike. Tree’s favorite Bible verse, Genesis 1:11, reflects the essence of her journey: "Then God said, ‘Let the earth sprout vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them’; and it was so." Like the tree in Scripture, she planted seeds of kindness, faith, and wisdom that blossomed in the lives of everyone she touched. She found joy in life’s simple yet profound blessings—sharing meals, tending to her home, and traveling with family to create treasured memories. Tree is survived by her children Gregory (Latrice), Darnell, and Maurice; her grandchildren, Gregory Jr., Sabria, Brielle, Naquasia, D’Asia, Keriana, and Ava; great-grandchildren Ayden, her siblings Victor, Darlene, Marlene, Verna, Victoria, Patricia, and a special cousin, Parrish. She also leaves to cherish her memory many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Her late Caretakers. Maurice Latrice, Darnell and Naquasia. She was preceded in death by her stepson Michael Jr. and her brother’s Richard and Anthony. Her legacy of love, strength, and faith will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
