Laura Christine Mills – Planter, also known as “Midget” age 59, born on April 4, 1957, to the late Thomas Lee Mills Sr. and Annie Mae Mills in Camden, New Jersey. Laura received her wings and Heavenly Crown on May 22, 2016, after a long, courageous battle with Scleroderma. No matter how hard her struggle, she always wore a smile on her face. Laura received her early childhood education through the Glassboro School District. Laura relocated to the Vineland area and attended the Vineland School District from middle school through her high school years. On September 26, 1975, God blessed her with her one and only child, Jeffrey Jenesse “JJ” Mills. Laura then married the love of her life, Randolph Planter on August 27, 1988 to complete her small but beautiful family. Laura, along with her son, Jeffrey J. Mills, who was always by her side, accepted Christ into their life in July of 1989 in the Bridgeton Church of God, under the leadership of Pastor Rudolph Planter Sr., where she was a faithful member until her health declined. She was an advocate for the Lord wherever she went. An angel on Earth, always leading others to Christ through spiritual guidance and/or prayer. Laura had a special gift of always helping others, which was shown by her dedication of 30+ years to the Vineland Developmental Center, caring for and truly loving her consumers, as well as her co-workers. She was always willing to give a helping hand, a listening ear or a kind word of encouragement to all. Laura loved spending time with her family, especially her son, whom she spent hours upon hours talking to and sharing her everyday life, Her godson, Andre, whom she groomed and guided to a life for Christ; Her siblings, whom she always managed to get to cater to her, she played the role of, ”Baby Sis” very well, she absolutely loved the special attention they each gave in their own special ways. Her favorite pastime was spent reading her Bible and praying. She enjoyed long rides, outings to Cowtown and the Berlin Auction, board games, especially Trouble, collecting elephants, which she believed was a symbol of Good Luck. She also enjoyed spending time with her five great - grandboys... they always seemed to bring a smile to her face. Laura leaves to cherish her memories: Her son, Jeffrey “JJ” Mills (Michelle) of Millville; her godson, Andre C. Mills of Vineland; her father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Planter Sr. of Bridgeton; three Sisters, Chestina Ledbetter of Bear, DE, Mary Emma Downing (Hezekiah Sr.) and Jacqueline Satchell (Jerome) both of Vineland; three Brothers, Robert Lee Rodgers of Williamstown, Bruce Mills Sr. (Cynthia) and Willis Mills (Roxanne), both of Millville; six Grandchildren; Elijah, Jericho, Zebedee, Uzziah, Michaela Slaney - Mills, all of Millville and Shaniya Peterson of Bridgeton; five great – grandchildren; Asariah, Jessiah, Jericho Jr., Jerious and Jechori Slaney, all of Millville; a great host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends whose lives she blessed in so many ways.
