Obituary of Emma Johnson

Emma Hartenes Johnson, a long-time resident of the New Jersey area, passed away on Wednesday the 23rd of November 2016 at Kindred Hospital. Emma was born in 1941 in Philadelphia, PA, Emma received her Nursing Education from Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania/ Sea Shore House, in 1951. She continued her education at various schools of higher education, from which she received her degree in Nursing in 1955. Emma worked at various psychiatric nursing facilities throughout Pennsylvania in the 1970s. In a career shift, she took a position as an administrator where she worked until her retirement. Emma loved good food and socializing, enjoyed going to movies and plays with friends, and had a wonderful smile and personality that could light up a room. She leaves behind a loving husband, Elmo Johnson, and beautiful daughter Sharon, son-in-law Clifford and, four grandchildren Kirkland, Clifford, Jordan, and Mikhail, sister Elouise a host of nieces, nephews and grandchildren and long time friends Evonne Walters, Tom and Loretta Jacobs as well as, Joe and Rebecca, David and Elaine Mullens, and Ronald and Renee. And a host of grandnieces & grandnephews all of whom brought great joy to her later years. Veteran’s Group family, and friends and family.
