Obituary of Barbara Jean Pegues
~~Barbara Jean Malcolm Pegues of Largo, Maryland made her heavenly ascent on April 17, 2017, while at Prince George’s Hospital Center in Prince George’s County, Maryland after a courageous battle with a long-term illness. Barbara Jean was born in Belle Glade, Florida but spent her childhood in Bridgeton, New Jersey with her nine siblings and parents. Upon graduation from high school, she began a career in the United States Nay. After being honorably discharged, she retained her post as a Federal employee. Barbara held the position of Budget Analyst for several Commanding Officers at the Naval Media Center for over four decades where she excelled and was promoted while creating many life-long friendships. Barbara Jean was a certified tax preparer with H&R Block and had a successful Mary Kay business for many years.
Barbara was a woman of faith and a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Landover, MD. She found strength, solace and inspirational joy in the teaching and preaching Pastor John K. Jenkins of whom she was especially fond. As her health allowed, she was an active member of the Cancer Support Ministry and other Women’s Ministries.
Barbara Jean is survived by her husband, Lester Pegues, Jr., a son, Samora Proctor (Ummal), grandchildren; Lete Holmes, Taylor Price and Kaleem Guled, sisters; Dorothy Hall, Somerset, NJ, (First Lady) Ruthie Doss Mack (Pastor John Mack), Cedarville, NJ and Peggy Hightower, Bridgeton, NJ, brothers; Robert Doss, Jr., Cinnaminson, NJ, Vaughn Doss (Olive), Bridgeton, NJ , Thomas and Timothy Doss of Bridgeton, NJ and Kenneth Doss (Loretta), Sicklerville, NJ. She also leaves to mourn a host of extremely close nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many beloved friends and colleagues.
Home going service will be held 12pm Saturday, April 29,2017 at Maranatha Baptist Church, 1524 Bridgeton- Millville Pike, Millville, NJ. Viewing will be from 10am-12pm.
