Obituary of David Jonathan Gerald

David Johnathan "Nate" Gerald II , 46, of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, transitioned from his earthly home on July 4, 2017 after a brief illness. "Nate" was born on March 17, 1971 in Somers Poinyt, New Jersey. In his early years, he spent a lot of time in Mullins, South Carolina wit h his maternal grandparents which is where most of his cousins were. He was very comical and quite a jokester. Whenever he entered the room, you could expect you were going to have a good time. His cousins viewed him as a role model because he was one of the oldest grandchildren, very protective of them and he carried hiimself with much charisma.
In 1991, Nate graduated from Ocean City High School. He was loved by his classmates as he was easy to get along with. After high school, he attended Atlantic Community College and was employed by the Hilton Hotel Casino for ten years. Afterwhich, Nate became employed with the New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJDOC) and completed State Basic Correction Officer Training with Class of 181 on January 17, 2001. He remained employed with NJDOC until he transitoned.
His beloved son, David J. Gerald III, maternal grandparents; Irene and Raleigh Legette, paternal grandparents; Mable and Watkin Gerald,Jr., James Gerald, Walter Gerald, Edgar Gerald along with numerous great aunts and great uncles preceded him into eternal rest.
Surviving to mourn and cherish priceless moments are, his two daughters; Ashley and Natalie Gerald of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, his mother; Gloria Legette of Ocean City, NJ, his father, David J. Gerald, Sr. of Simpsonville, SC, four brothers; Ronnie Gerald of Vineland, NJ, Vincent Gerald of Atlanta, GA, Tillman Sanders of Marion , SC and Jonathan Gerald of Savannah, GA, four nieces; Destiny, Sha'ronna, Deniyah and Mia and one nephew, Sha'ronn, six aunts Doreatha Harps of Mullins, SC, Constance McNeil of Millville, NJ, Mary Ann (Kenny) Fladger of Fork, SC, Cora Gerald of Pleasantville,NJ, Mable Gerald of Mullins, SC and Mary Brown of Baltimore, MD, his three uncles; Ronnie Legette of Mullins, SC, Matthew Gerald of Sacramento, CA and Paul Gerald of Bridgeport, CT, three great aunts; Kay (James) Graves of Philadelphia, PA, Lena B. Johnson of Pleasantville, NJ and Betty Campbell of Mullins, SC, one great uncle; Boyd (Deloris) Jones of Philadelphia, PA and a host of other relatives and very special friends including Eric Rowell and Ronald "Jaws" Williams, that love and miss him dearly.
