Obituary of Mother Olive Lucretia Brown
On the National level, Mother Brown served with the late Mother Anne L. Bailey, the late Mother Mattie McGlothen and the late Mother Emma F. Crouch.] Mother Olive Lucretia Windley Brown
Mother Olive Lucretia Windley Brown was born in Beaufort, North Carolina from the union of John and Julia Windley. Upon the death of her mother, she came to Orange, New Jersey at the age of seven and established permanent residency with her maternal grandmother (Lucretia) and aunt (Olive) who called her "Little Olive." At that time, they were members of the Reid Temple Church of God in Christ, Orange, New Jersey. In 1947, Mother Brown accepted the Lord as her personal Savior.
At age 16, Mother Brown graduated from the Orange High School, Orange, New Jersey. Subsequently, she attended the North Jersey Business School in Newark, New Jersey and the Potter's Secretary School in East Orange, New Jersey. May 1965, she graduated from the Newark Bible School (Extension of Northeast Bible College). She received a Teacher's Certificate from Evangelical Teacher Training Association.
On October 17, 1951 Mother Brown was married to Deacon Willie E. Brown. They were blessed with two children, Karen Denise and Kenneth Edward.
On the local level Mother Brown was a member of the Reid Temple Church of God in Christ under the pastorate of the late Bishop A. J. Reid; the late Bishop J. 0. Patterson; the late Bishop DeWitt A. Burton, the late Elder John L. Bazemore and Elder Walter E. Gorham. She has held a myriad of positions in the local Church.
Mother Brown was a member of the Church of God in Christ for All Saints in Morristown, New Jersey under the pastorate of Elder Robert C. Rogers. She served on the Mother's Board, Pastor's Aid and was a member of the Women's Department.
On the District level, Mother Brown previously served in the Northern District with the late Superintendent Gordon A. Rogers and the late Mother Johnnie E. Reid. She was the Organizer of the First District Choir in the State. She was a member of the District Hospitality; Served as District Secretary; Assistant District Missionary; and District Missionary with Superintendent Clarence C. Williams.
On the State level, Mother Brown previously served with the late Bishop A. J. Reid, the late Bishop James Well, the late Bishop B. M. Keith and the late Bishop Esau Courtney, Sr. In the Department of Women, she served with the late Mother Anne L. Bailey, the late Mother Mary L. Purnell and Mother Lucille V. Bazemore Spann.
She was a member of the YWCC, Home and Foreign Mission, Hospitality and she was the Public Relations Chairperson for the State Women's Convention.
Mother Brown later served with the late Bishop Esau Courtney, Sr. and Mother Lucille V. Spann as the Program Chairperson, Worship Service Facilitator, Chairperson of the Advisory Board and President of the State "We Twelve."
On the National level, Mother Brown served with the late Mother Anne L. Bailey, the late Mother Mattie McGlothen and the late Mother Emma F. Crouch.
She served as "We Twelve" President; Executive Secretary, Department of Women; National Financial Secretary, Department of Women; Secretary and Member Planning and Steering Committee, Women's International Convention; Trustee, McGlothen House Complex, Memphis, Tennessee; Member of the Executive Board; Member of the Program Committee; Member of the Examining Board and Adjutant Sister.
November 1998, at the Holy Convocation, Memphis, Tennessee she was appointed by Mother Willie Mae Rivers, General Supervisor, Department of Women as the Executive Financial Officer. She was also the Coordinator for the Women's International Convention/Crusade.
July 1999, Mother Brown was chosen by Bishop Martin Luther Johnson, with the approval of the Presiding Bishop, the late Bishop Chandler D. Owens and the General Supervisor, Mother Willie Mae Rivers to serve as Jurisdictional Supervisor, Department of Women, Church of God in Christ, New Jersey First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.
November 1999, at the Holy Convocation in Memphis, Tennessee, Mother Willie Mae Rivers appointed Mother Olive L. Brown as the Jurisdictional Supervisor.
February 26, 2000, Mother Brown was officially installed to the Office of Jurisdictional Supervisor, New Jersey First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. Mother Brown faithfully served with General Supervisor, Mother Willie Mae Rivers and later served with General Supervisor, Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis.
As Jurisdictional Supervisor of the Women's Department in the Church Of God In Christ the women's ministries were expanded, enhanced and enriched both spiritually and physically.

Supervisor Olive L. Brown was a motivator, organizer and encourager during her tenure of service, from the children in the Sunshine Band to the Mother's Board.
She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter, Karen Denise Jeffress (Tays) and her son, Kenneth Edward Brown (LeVonda); her grandchildren: Tyrone Jeffress (Lydia), LaTonya Johnson (William), Timothy Brown (Kimberly) and Krystal Brown. Her great-grandchildren: William Edward Reed Johnson, Antonia Vivian Jeffress, Olivia Joy Johnson, Aubrey Joelle Brown and Arianna Denise Johnson. Her Godchildren: Mr. Todd Gorham, Mrs. Clara Wolfe, Mrs. Cassandra Harris, Mrs. Rhonda Gatewood, Ms. Doreen Ernandez, Ms. Alison Ingram and Bishop Tyrone McCombs and a host of relatives, friends and the household of faith.
God was walking in His garden,
One He made with His own hand.
Pausing there He found one ready,
He chose her with His own hand.
