Obituary of Lena E. McDowell-Morton

Lena Esther McDowell-Morton, born August 22, 1948 and arrived at her home in Glory on November 14, 2018, after a prolonged illness and stay at Cooper  Hospital. She is the daughter of Elpernia Lewis McDowell and Joseph McDowell, both deceased.  Lena was the loving wife of Minister Malcolm Morton for 17 years. She was a graduate of Camden County Vocational School, Pennsauken High School, and Rutgers University. Lena worked a variety of jobs before         declining health caused her medical retirement from the accounting field.  At St, John Baptist Church, she served on the Jobs Ministry (leader), Women’s Ministry, Pastor’s Aide, Potter’s House, Nursing  Ministry and School of Discipleship (graduate). Lena was her family historian.

Lena was preceded in death by two (2) sisters, five (5) brothers, four (4) sisters-in-law, and five (5) brothers-in-law.  She is survived by her loving husband, Minister Malcolm Morton, four (4) sisters, five (5) sisters-in-law, and five (5) brothers-in-law.  Also left to celebrate her home going are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special friends Edith Branch, Myrtle Minor, Cindy Muns and Louise McGee.
