Obituary of Cecil N. Collins Sr.

Cecil N. Collins, Sr. (Pop) was born on August 1, 1928 in   Camden, New Jersey to the late Norman S. and Marie V. Collins. He was the fourth of ten children. He departed this life on Sunday, November 25, 2018, he was 90 years old.

Cecil was raised in Merchantville, New Jersey and was educated in the Merchantville public school system.

At an early age he trained as a Golden Glove boxer  nicknamed “Tiger Collins” in Philadelphia, PA and Camden, New Jersey. He worked with his brother, Donald at New Car Auto Shop and worked at Campbell Soup Company and National Electric in Camden, New Jersey. He was a loving husband, father and Pop-Pop, a kind man with a sense of  humor. Dad had a beautiful personality and would give the shirt off his back. He was a lover of cowboy TV shows, watched them daily and could quote many of the scenes. He always extended himself to help others and loved to make a joke to put a smile on your face. You couldn’t help but laugh as this was evident on his last days in ICU. He had us all laughing with his funny remarks. We’ll all cherish the memories he left with us.

He leaves to cherish his memory Cecilia Hubbard (deceased);  seven children: Cecil Jr. (Donna), Lloyd, Marie, Carl, Helen  (John), Marlene (Greg), Brian (deceased); brother: Charles (Frances); sister: Doris Bass (James); preceded in death: brothers: Stanley, Thomas, Howard, Robert, Richard, Donald; sister; Helen. He also leaves to cherish a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.
