Obituary of Warren Mitchell, Sr.

Please share a memory of Warren to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Warren Mitchell, also known as "Butch" was born on November 2, 1945 to Jessie Mitchell. He was one of five children (Albert, Alfred (deceased), Julia and Wilhelmina). He was born and raised in Franklinville, NJ and he was educated through the Delsea Regional School System. He held multiple jobs, first working at the basket factory in Franklinville followed by the Iron Factory in Philadelphia. His final place of employment was at Perdue Farms in Accomack County, VA as a Forklift Driver.

"Butch" met his wife, Dorothy, of 54 years through being childhood friends. They married on April 21, 1965, afterwards settling in Franklinville, NJ. There they raised three children (Dorothia, Marian, and Warren Jr. aka Tony (deceased)). Butch sacrificed and worked hard to make sure that the family had everything they  needed. He was known to be a provider for his family, both financially and emotionally. Butch was also very invested in his family, hosting many gatherings such as BBQs, family reunions and his immediate family attended events at extended homes on holidays. Dorothy was a devoted caregiver to Butch until the very end.

Butch loved to fish and he loved the outdoors. He would travel to the docks to fish and crab on the boats whenever he was able to, even after working 10 hour shifts. He would be on the water until the late nights. If anyone knew Butch, they knew he was as much of a fisherman as a hard working individual. He also enjoyed watching television channels such as SyFy and The Animal Planet.

Butch was preceded in death by his mother (Jessie), brother (Alfred), and son (Warren Jr. aka "Tony"). He was the grandfather to nine grandchildren (Monique 27, Lavonte 23, Anthony 23, Aleijah 19, Reakwon 19, Kyle 17, Amiaya 15, Moliyah 6, and Alexis 2) and host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, family on both sides, as well as friends. Butch has one special aunt, "Aunt Honey", whom he loved dearly. He also had a host of brother and sister-in-laws down in Virginia whom he was very close to and enjoyed every   minute of life with.

He will forever be remembered as a man dedicated to his family, always enjoying a good party and loving being out in the water.
