Obituary of Fred L. Coleman

Fred Lesley Coleman was born on June 17th 1930. Fred was the youngest of three children born to the late William and Julia Coleman.

Fred accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Although he had no affiliation with any particular place of worship, he was a true believer.

Fred was educated in the Philadelphia public school system. He was a graduate of Simon Gratz High School.

Fred enlisted in the U.S. Airforce and shortly after, he married the late Faith L. Gray. From this union they were blessed with three sons: Craig, Courtney and Scott. Fred would later marry the late Clara Mae Coleman.

Fred would go on to spend 20 years in the U.S. Airforce, retiring in 1970. After retiring from the Airforce, he quickly rose in the security sector, eventually becoming the first Black Executive to ever run the Philadelphia Office of Pinkerton   Security. He would  go on to work for Scott Paper Security  until his retirement.

Fred leaves to mourn three sons, Craig, Courtney and Scott; three daughters-in-law, Anita, Rheba and Marcel; two grandchildren, Aliyah and Miles and one niece Carolyn Gardiner along with other family and friends.
