Obituary of Rev. Dr. Gregory W. Christopher, Sr.
A Tribute of Life.
Gregory W. Christopher, Sr. was born to the late Warren and Hilda Christopher. On April 21, 2019, Resurrection Sunday, Gregory went home to be with the Lord.
Gregory was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He met and later married the love of his life Bernice, whom he shared 41 years of joy. Out of that union, they were blessed with two children - Ebony Joy and Gregory Jr.
Gregory attended Philadelphia public schools. His scholarly achievements included a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and English from Eastern University, Master of Education Degrees in School Leadership and School Counseling from Wilmington University and a Doctorate of Theology from Jameson School of Theology. Reverend Gregory W. Christopher, Sr. was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 2008.
Gregory spent many years as an educator teaching in the Camden City School District. He became a Guidance Counselor and later served as the Chairman of the Guidance Department for a period of time. He retired from the Camden County Board of Education. He was a change agent as an active member of the Camden Education Association, enthusiastically serving as Executive Board Member and member of the Negotiation Team.
Gregory was proud of being a recipient of the 2012 Ethnic Minority Affairs and Leadership Image Award by NJE Association for his mentorship of the young men in his school. He also served as an Anti Bullying Specialist.
Gregory was a proud and supportive member at New Life Ministries Church. He served as an Associate Minister and a mentor to men. Gregory was a founding board member of KOGIAH, Inc. (Kingdom Of God Is At Hand) International Healing Ministries. He was the Dean of Academia and a Professor at the Tree of Life Institute of Biblical Studies located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Gregory loved to cook after a long day at work; he enjoyed eating sunflower seeds and visiting the ocean every season of the year.
He is preceded in death by his father Warren Christopher and mother Hilda Braxton. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Bernice Christopher; two children Ebony Joy and Gregory Jr.; two Brothers Sherman (Ethel); Eric Tony (Donna), two step brothers Bobby (Pam); Billy (Dani); two grand children Tamir and Ayla; and a host of family and friends.
