Obituary of Doris R Davis
Doris Davis, daughter of the late Charles and Maxcener DeBrue, was born on May 10, 1941 in Fairfield County, South Carolina. Doris received her education in Charlotte, North Carolina. She later moved to Philadelphia Pennsylvania where she worked several jobs. She met and married Shelton Davis however no children were born from this union. Both Shelton and Doris became members of the Rising Sun Baptist Church where they served under Reverend Harry E. Bronson. Doris was a member of the Senior Choir and she happily served as a Trustee Aid. Eventually, Doris and Shelton moved to Willingboro, New Jersey were they both remained.
Doris was a selfless person and a God-fearing woman, everyone knew that she would do anything for anyone. Often times, you would see her reading her Bible and you would hear her singing hymns as she sat on the couch or as she moved about the house. Throughout her illness she would often speak of the goodness of the Lord and would refer to Him as being her Father. Her faith remained strong until the very end.
Doris departed this life leaving behind to cherish her memories four sisters; Ebenezer DeBrue, Mattie Bell, Shirley Weeks, Tonnie Dixon, brother-in-law Joseph Bell, aunt Eva Armstrong from Winnsboro South Carolina, uncle Ulis Gilard and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Shelton, her sister Ruthie Lee Crosby and brothers Cornelius DeBrue and Charles R. DeBrue Jr.
