Obituary of Signora Logan

Please share a memory of Signora to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Signora Petty Logan is remembered by her family, friends, beloved church family, and former coworkers, as Siggy, Nora, Sister Logan, and Miss Signora, and her numerous nieces and nephews as Aunt Siggy. This stylish woman with her colorful stilettos, signature red lipstick, and dangly earrings epitomized a true Christian woman and wife with her wonderful smile and unique laugh. Thursday afternoon, April 16, 2020, she gently was lifted to be with her Lord in excellent care with dignity after a courageous fight with dementia. Siggy was born to Elizabeth Anne Pearl Roberts and Henry Gun Petty in Halifax County, VA on October 20, 1936. She moved to New Jersey as a young woman, where she met and married Acie Lee Andrew Logan. After years of performing day work for private families, she enrolled in school to become a Certified Nursing Assistant and proudly passed her exams to formalize the work she did so well. Her career led her to work at Cedar Grove Nursing Home for a decade, where she retired and God later opened the door for her and Andy to spend their last few months in a place that knew her and took care of them well; even by some of her former coworkers. Siggy was always proud to be a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church in Williamstown, NJ for 50+-years, where she served in many capacities; most notably in the missionary society, as an usher and a choir member. She loved singing so much, she got Uncle Andy to pay for vocal lessons so she could praise the Lord excellently through song. As long as she could, there was not a service that she would miss. Siggy was the last surviving sibling of her family. Her siblings include most recently David Preston (Joan*) (NJ), William Ernest, Henry Harvey, Margaret, and Eugene Petty, Ruby Petty Coles, and James-Lloyd Peters (Barbara*) (NJ). She leaves numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as godchildren nationwide that will miss her dearly. Her longtime friend-turned-neighbor Quinzell Nelson (NJ), whom she affectionately called Quinney, longtime friends Jeanette Mann, Alma Lacey, and Mary Wilson, sister-in-law Barbara Peters, and cousin Mabel Roberts were her other sisters (all of NJ) and will cherish and mourn her dearly after 65 years of friendship. To say she will be missed is an understatement and those who knew her know that she always gave God praise as her ultimate strength and guide and shared the love of the Lord with everyone. Siggy was a true Christian friend and advisor to those she had the opportunity to know. As we go through our journey here, some of us getting older, and we come upon a challenge or situation, remember what Siggy would say. “Well read your bible and stay anchored in the Lord because He will see you through.”
