Ollie Julia Wright or more commonly known to many as “Mommom” departed this life Tuesday, April 28, 2020 to be with our Lord and Savior. Ollie was born on January 22, 1926 to the late James Goldsberry and late Lena Alberta Tiller of Lawrenceville, Virginia. She received her early education in the public schools of Virginia. As a child she accepted the Lord in her life as her mother was an advent teacher of the Word of God. Ollie and her siblings were well known as The Goldberry Singers who traveled around the country singing gospel music. She moved to Washington, D.C. with her brother and sister-in-law to work for the Pentagon. While living in Washington D.C. she married Joseph Bowen and from that union they had one daughter Lena. After the death of Joseph she moved to Chester, Pennsylvania. She attended college in Philadelphia while working as a pharmacist at Harris Drugstore in Chester, Pennsylvania. In 1948 she married William Strand and from that union they had one daughter Linda. She then went on to pursue a career in beauty culture and graduated from Apex beauty school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ollie opened her beauty salon in Chester, Pennsylvania where she successfully served the community for over 30 years. During this time she met and married Otis Wright and they moved to Pennsauken, New Jersey where she lived for over 35 years. In addition to her parents, Ollie was preceded in death by her husband Otis Wright and her daughter Lena Summers. She was the last surviving of 13 siblings. Ollie’s memory will be forever cherished by one daughter: Linda Johnson of Collingswood, New Jersey; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces nephews, and other relatives and friends.
