Obituary of Maria I Maldonado

Maria I. Maldonado, was born on November 8, 1969 in Ponce Puerto Rico. First born of Alicia Hernandez and Pedro Maldonado, who later had two more children together Maria E. (Femia) and Maria D. (Maqui). They were raised with their two older sisters Minerva & Carmen. When Maria was about 7 years old her mother Alicia moved to Camden NJ were she grew up on 3rd & Beckett street. Everyone knew her as Chave, she made friends with so many people growing up in South Camden. She later graduated from Camden High as well as Camden County College. She is also survived by another sister Maria Tina and brother Carlos Lopez. Although Chave was 29 years old when she had her first son, motherhood was nothing new to her. Being the oldest grandchild of Perfecta and Marcos, she baby sat almost all of her younger cousins at some point and they all grew up calling her Titi Chave. Chave also spent most of her life raising her niece and nephews.. Joaquin, Christali, Timothy, Timmere and Jay Jay. She is survived by her two sons Alhuda Gibbs and Azziz Gibbs. She was so excited when she became a grandmother just last year to a little boy named Jacob, who she absolutely adored. She also had great nieces and nephews that she admired dearly. She took care of everyone else kids like they were her own and thats how she will always be remembered. With over 40 cousins on her moms side alone, 5 aunts and 5 uncles, plus the many friends that she loved, she will never be forgotten. On May 8th 2020, At just 50 years old, the Lord called her home just one month after the loss of her uncle Saul Hernandez. She suffered from Pancreatitis and Liver failure. All who knew her understood her complicated life and still appreciated her for who she was. Very out spoken, not a hair on her tongue and most of the time she spent cursing you out. But her smile was so bright, her heart was so big and she always made you laugh. Chave your presence on this earth will be greatly missed by many...
